Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” film adaptations by the very mortal actor Orlando Bloom — who was in his early twenties at the time.
Speaking at a career retrospective at the 2025 Fan Expo Chicago (via Entertainment Weekly), Orlando revealed that, despite his ultimate immortal warrior persona in those movies, he was subject to teasing behind the scenes. As he recalled:
“I was the butt of most of the jokes, ’cause I never got dirty. Legolas never gets blood, never gets dirty. Viggo [Mortensen] would love to talk about my pretty hair, clean face and hands and nails and stuff. It was funny.”
Orlando also provided other interesting comments about his elven warrior character. In particular, he discussed his experience traveling around New Zealand with the films’ other actors during their time off from shooting. Indeed, despite the teasing, he had nothing but good things to say about that period in his life, which he summed up accordingly:
“I was 20 or 21 — we were all young. There was a lot of fun. We were a family of friends.”
