“We must journey back to she who carved this board… to stir its dark magic.” The Avenue has revealed an official trailer for a horror movie called Witchboard, which is the old original name for the haunted Ouija board (also called a Spirit Board). Yes they already made a Ouija board movie, and the original Witchboard was turned into a cult fave horror film in 1986 also called Witchboard. In this new update on Witchboard, Emily & Christian start a café in New Orleans, but their aspirations unravel when Emily discovers a cursed Witchboard, an ancient artifact connected to spirits. Enthralled by the Witchboard’s allure, Emily slips into fixation, leading Christian to consult with Alexander Babtiste, a secretive occultist harboring his own evil plans. As Emily’s hold on sanity weakens, Babtiste’s intent to exploit the Witchboard’s dark force emerges during a menacing masked gala. Emily and Christian must destroy the Witchboard’s hex before its power overwhelms them in a terrifying tale of sorcery & deceit. Starring Madison Iseman, Aaron Dominguez, Mel Jarnson, Charlie Tahan, with Antonia Desplat and Jamie Campbell Bower. This looks like it has some seriously crazy horror scenes in it, including some sort of demon creature?! Check out the footage.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Chuck Russell’s horror Witchboard, direct from YouTube:
In New Orleans, Emily (Madison Iseman) and her fiancé Christian (Aaron Dominguez) are opening their new dream café. But their dreams are dashed when Emily finds an ancient, cursed Witchboard, an ancient artifact that once served as a gateway to the spirit world. As Emily becomes increasingly captivated by the board’s ability to summon spirits, Christian seeks the expertise of Alexander Babtiste (Jamie Campbell Bower), an enigmatic occult scholar. As Emily’s grip on reality weakens, Babtiste’s true intentions come to light—to use the Witchboard’s dark spirit power for his own twisted purposes. Culminating in a decadent masked ball at Babtiste’s mansion, the line between temptation and terror blurs as Emily and Christian find themselves trapped in a deadly web of witchcraft and dark desires. Emily and Christian must race against time to break the board’s curse before they succumb to its deadly power! Witchboard is directed by veteran American filmmaker Chuck Russell, director of the Hollywood movies A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, The Blob, The Mask, Eraser, Bless the Child, The Scorpion King, I Am Wrath, Junglee, and Paradise City previously. The screenplay is by Chuck Russell and Greg McKay; inspired by the original Witchboard film written by Kevin Tenney. It’s produced by Bernie Gewissler, Greg McKay, Jean-François Roesler, Chuck Russell, and Kade Vu. This initially premiered at the 2024 Fantasia Film Festival last year. The Avenue will debut Witchcraft in theaters nationwide starting August 15th, 2025 coming soon. Scary?
