“Has it ever gone wrong?” “Sometimes we have to walk away…” Bleecker Street has unveiled the trailer for a movie called Relay, a clever thriller from filmmaker David Mackenzie (of Hallam Foe, Spread, Perfect Sense, Starred Up, Hell or High Water). This first premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival to mixed reviews, and it just played at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival as well. A world-class “fixer” is enlisted by an alluring, unpredictable whistleblower in a “twisty, confident homage to classic paranoid thrillers”. A broker of lucrative payoffs between corrupt corporations and the individuals who threaten them breaks his own rules when a new client seeks his protection to stay alive. TIFF says the film is “riddled with ingenious feats of misdirection, novel set pieces, and jaw-dropping twists that would have made Hitchcock proud.” Starring Riz Ahmed & Lily James, along with Sam Worthington, Willa Fitzgerald, Matthew Maher, Mike Holt, and Eisa Davis. The film currently has 81% on RT, and looks intriguing enough to watch. Opening in theaters starting in August this summer. This plot seems like it goes really over-the-top crazy at some point.

Riz Ahmed stars as a world class “fixer” who specializes in brokering lucrative payoffs between corrupt corporations and individuals who threaten their ruin. He keeps his identity a secret through meticulous planning & always follows an exacting set of rules. But when a message arrives one day from a potential client (Lily James) needing his protection just to stay alive, all his rules quickly start to change. Relay is directed by acclaimed British filmmaker David Mackenzie, director of the movies Young Adam, Hallam Foe, Spread, Perfect Sense, Tonight You’re Mine, Starred Up, Hell or High Water, and Outlaw King, as well as the series “Homemade” and “Under the Banner of Heaven” most recently. The screenplay is written by Justin Piasecki. Produced by Basil Iwanyk, Gillian Berrie, David Mackenzie, Teddy Schwarzman. This first premiered at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival last year. Bleecker Street will debut David Mackenzie’s Relay film in US theaters nationwide starting August 22nd, 2025 coming up this summer. Is anyone interested?
