“This is a very special night – and someone is ruining it!” Ha. Netflix has launched the main official trailer for Fear Street: Prom Queen – the next offering in this horror franchise that kicked off with a back-to-back trilogy in 2021. This is the fourth installment so far – it is originally adapted from R. L. Stine’s horror books, beginning the interconnected Fear Street Part One: 1994, Fear Street Part Two: 1978, Fear Street Part Three: 1666. They all debuted in the summer of 2021, so we’ve been waiting for a follow-up for 4 years. In this new Fear Street movie, prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s It Girls are busy with campaigns for the crown. When an outsider puts herself in the running, then girls star disappearing, the class of ’88 is in for one hell of a prom night. Starring India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, Chris Klein, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Ariana Greenblatt, along with Lily Taylor and Katherine Waterson. There is actually a single new book this is based on. Looks like its spunky and funky and glittery – more of an 80s riff than an inventive new slasher horror. It still seems like it will be entertaining to watch.
