“You have any evening plans?” Greenwich Entertainment has unveiled the official trailer for an indie film titled Love, Brooklyn, which first premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to many warm reviews. It’s now set for release in theaters at the end of August with more screens during September. A writer in Brooklyn navigates complicated relationships with his ex, an art gallery owner, and his current lover, a newly-single mother,, with the support of his best friend. A modern romance set against the rapidly changing landscape of Brooklyn, New York. It’s one of my favorite films from Sundance (here’s my glowing review) touching upon many aspects of NYC life – from gentrification to relationships and everything else. Starring André Holland, with Nicole Beharie and DeWanda Wise as his two lovers, plus Roy Wood Jr., Cassandra Freeman, and Cadence Reese. Executive produced / mentored by Steven Soderbergh as director Rachael Holder’s feature debut. There’s so many aspects of this film that I love, especially how he rides his bicycle everywhere. It’s a light, uplifting, honest film about modern romance & making choices.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Rachael Holder’s film Love, Brooklyn, direct from YouTube:
Three longtime Brooklynites navigate careers, love, loss, and friendship against the rapidly changing landscape of their beloved city. André Holland is perfect as freewheeling Roger, meeting his match in no-bullshit Nicole (DeWanda Wise), who’s unafraid to call his bluffs as she navigates dating with a young daughter in tow. Nicole Beharie charms as Casey, a woman endeavoring to understand the renegotiation of her relationship with Roger as the evolving arts scene impacts her gallery. Holder guides her actors to do some of their best work as they face the challenge of accepting change in a city transforming around them. Love, Brooklyn is directed by American indie filmmaker Rachael Holder, now making her feature directorial debut after episodes of series “I Love Bekka & Lucy”, “Dickinson”, “Amber Brown”, and “Run the World” previously. The screenplay is written by Paul Zimmerman. Produced by Maurice Anderson, Patrick Wengler, Kate Sharp, Liza Zusman, and André Holland. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (read our review). Greenwich Ent. will debut Rachael Holder’s Love, Brooklyn film in select US theaters starting August 29th, 2025 – expanding into more theaters in September. Any good?
