Maggie Q is a Cold Case Detective in ‘Ballard’ Series Official Trailer

“We only have one shot at this guy…” So go get him, Detective! Amazon’s Prime Video has unveiled the full official trailer for a detective series set in Los Angeles titled Ballard, streaming in July this summer. This “marks the first series in Amazon MGM Studios’ Bosch franchise, inspired by the work of bestselling author Michael Connelly, that is not led by Titus Welliver” this time around. Ballard stars actress Maggie Q as a LAPD detective (also in the Connelly novels) named Renee Ballard – who oversees a new cold case division at the L.A. Police Department, and gets into some deep water digging into some of these cases. The full cast includes Q with John Carroll Lynch, Rebecca Field, Michael Mosley, Amy Hill, Victoria Moroles, Courtney Taylor, Hector Hugo, Noah Bean, and Michael Cassidy. Plus Welliver appearing as Harry Bosch connected to the previous series. This looks a lot like the Dept Q series on Netflix, but this is set in LA and from Prime Video instead – very similar concept in many ways. Might be good? Especially with this cast.

This Ballard series follows Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q), who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold-case unit — a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest case load in the city. Ballard approaches these frozen-in-time cases with empathy & determination. When she uncovers a conspiracy during her investigations, she’ll lean on the assistance of her retired ally, Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), to navigate the dangers that threaten both her unit and her life. Ballard is a series created and written by Kendall Sherwood, also a writer / producer on the series “Major Crimes”, “The Code”, “Hawaii Five-0”, and “Your Honor” previously. Showrun by Michael Alaimo & Sherwood. It’s adapted from the “Harry Bosch” book series created and written by Michael Connelly. Featuring episodes directed by Jet Wilkinson, Sarah Boyd, Tori Garrett, and Jon Huertas. Executive produced by Jet Wilkinson, Michael Alaimo, Melissa Aouate, Henrik Bastin, Michael Connelly, Kendall Sherwood, and Trish Hofmann.
