The team behind 2022’s acclaimed drama The Eight Mountains — Italian star Luca Marinelli and Belgian filmmakers Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch — are re-teaming for Let Love In, a romantic drama which van Groeningen will direct and Vandermeersch will star in, alongside Marinelli.
Vandermeesch and Marinelli play a couple whose relationship is thrown into crisis when the truth of an affair comes to the surface. Van Groeningen is directing from a script he co-wrote with Vandermeesch and Anne Paulicevich. Shooting is currently underway in Belgium.
Mediawan-owned OUR Films is producing, together with Menuetto, and Rufus, in collaboration with Circle One. The film is backed by arthouse streamer Mubi and its international sales outfit The Match Factory.
Vandermeersch and van Groeningen co-wrote and co-directed Italian drama The Eight Mountains, starring Marinelli. The film premiered in Cannes in 2022, where it won the Grand Jury Prize. Vandermeersch also contributed to the screenplay for van Groeningen’s Oscar-nominated breakout The Broken Circle Breakdown (2012).
Marinelli recently reprised his role as immortal fighter Nicky, alongside Charlize Theron, in Netflix’s The Old Guard 2 and played Italian dictator Benito Mussolini in Joe Wright’s limited series Mussolini: Son of the Century.
Van Groeningen, Vandermeersch, Hans Everaert, Mario Gianani, Lorenzo Mieli, and Lorenzo Gangarossa are producing Let Love In.
Mubi said it will distribute the film in key territories but did not provide details. The Match Factory will handle worldwide sales.
