“We’re going to make such a good team.” Prime Video has revealed an official trailer for an action comedy movie called Playdate, directed by Luke Greenfield as his latest follow-up to Half Brothers a few years ago. This is set for a streaming release in November just before Thanksgiving arrives, skipping theaters entirely for a streaming release only. An afternoon playdate between two stay-at-home dads (Kevin James and Alan Ritchson) turns into high-stakes chaos. Director Luke Greenfield (Let’s Be Cops, The Girl Next Door) hilariously collides suburban dad life with high-stakes thrills, transforming an ordinary afternoon into an absurd action-packed adventure where minivan mayhem meets professional hitmen. Along with Ritchson & James, Playdate stars Sarah Chalke, Alan Tudyk, Benjamin Pajak, Banks Pierce, Hiro Kanagawa, with Stephen Root and Isla Fisher. A fun dad comedy for dads of all ages. Thankfully this isn’t playing in theaters because this looks like Saturday Night TV special schlock. But it’ll make some people laugh anyway.
Here’s the main official trailer for Luke Greenfield’s comedy Playdate, direct from Prime Video’s YouTube:
When recently unemployed accountant Brian (Kevin James) agrees to a playdate with charismatic stay-at-home dad Jeff (Alan Ritchson) and their sons, he expects an easy afternoon of small talk and football tossing. Instead, he’s thrust into a chaotic scramble to stay alive as they are pursued by a ruthless team of mercenaries. Brian stumbles through one ridiculous obstacle after another, his zero tactical skills a stark contrast to Jeff’s oddly prepared demeanor. The movie hilariously collides suburban dad life with high-stakes thrills, transforming a regular afternoon into an absurd action-packed adventure where minivan mayhem meets hitmen. Playdate is directed by American filmmaker Luke Greenfield, director of the films The Animal, The Girl Next Door, Something Borrowed, Let’s Be Cops, and Half Brothers previously, as well as some TV work. The screenplay is written by Neil Goldman. Produced by Luke Greenfield, Jason Benoit, Sean Patrick O’Reilly, Mark Fasano, Jeffrey Greenstein. Amazon releases Luke Greenfield’s Playdate movie streaming on Prime Video starting on November 12th, 2025 coming soon this fall. Look any good?
