The first of the planned trilogy is described as a story about two people (Jackson and Holmes) navigating their relationship within the challenges of careers and family responsibilities and the pursuit of love, despite life’s inevitable obstacles.
It’s a character-driven dramedy that explores the emotional journey of young lovers who reconnect as adults, with the connective thread of shared joys, loss, and hope.
‘Happy Hours’ cast also includes Mary-Louise Parker, Constance Wu, Joe Tippett, John McGinty, Donald Webber Jr., Nathan Darrow, Johnna Dias-Watson and Jack Martin.
Production on the first film is underway in New York City, with the second and third installments scheduled to follow closely after.

Holmes’ last writing, directing and starring job was 2023’s ‘Rare Objects’, about a young woman who seeks to rebuild her life when she takes work at an antique store.
She regains her confidence from the kind souls who own the shop, until faces from her traumatic past start to surface.
More recently, she was seen in the second season of ‘Poker Face’.
Jackson has appeared in recent movies such as ‘Sky’ and this year’s ‘Karate Kid: Legends’.
But he’s perhaps better known for his small screen work, which includes ‘The Affair’, ‘Fatal Attraction’ and ‘Doctor Odyssey’, though it appears the latter won’t return after wrapping its first season in May.
When will ‘Happy Hours’ be on screens?
While the cameras are about to start rolling on the movie, there is no word yet on when it might be on screens.
We can imagine the first film at least arriving next year.
