Dylan O’Brien & James Sweeney in Awkward Comedy ‘Twinless’ Trailer

“You know how people say, just be yourself – like, what version of me?” Roadside Attraction has debuted the official trailer for an acclaimed indie film titled Twinless, a very awkward new romantic comedy from filmmaker James Sweeney. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was proclaimed one of the best comedies of the festival by many critics. Twinless stars Dylan O’Brien twice – he plays two twin brothers, Roman and Rocky, one of whom is killed early in the film. The remaining brother visits a support group and befriends another grieving man there named Dennis. The two strike up a close friendship which starts to become something more, until secrets from both of them are revealed. Don’t want to give it away! James Sweeney (also the film’s writer and director) co-stars as Dennis, with a small indie cast including Aisling Franciosi and Lauren Graham. It already has an impressive 96% on RT so far, with reviews saying it’s “dark, funny, and emotionally honest.” A unique film with bold twists and turns.

In Twinless, two young men meet in a twin support group and form an unlikely friendship. Roman (Dylan O’Brien) and Dennis (James Sweeney) both are searching for solace and an identity without their other halves, becoming inseparable outside of the group. But when Roman meets Dennis’ ebullient co-worker, Marcie (Aisling Franciosi), all is revealed to be not what it seems, as each man harbors secrets that could unravel everything about their connection. Twinless is written & directed by American indie actor / writer / filmmaker James Sweeney, director of the film Straight Up, plus many other short films previously. It’s produced by David Permut and James Sweeney. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and it also played at the Tribeca Film Festival.
