Twisted Metal really got audiences revved up when it roared onto streaming services in 2023. Set in an apocalyptic US hellscape, it starred Anthony Mackie (Captain America: Brave New World) as John Doe, a wise-cracking amnesiac ferrying supplies between civilization’s remaining outposts while outrunning marauders like the unhinged clown Sweet Tooth. It was a darkly funny, adrenaline-fuelled blast that, in its sophomore season, promises to really hit the accelerator. Read on below, where we’ll explain how to watch Twisted Metal Season 2 online and stream every episode from anywhere with a VPN.
Exceling at candy-colored carnage, Twisted Metal was co-developed by Zombieland and Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and based on the iconic PlayStation game franchise. Reese, Wernick, and showrunner Michael John Smith initially expanded its slim conceit, providing a backstory in which civilization’s collapse led to criminals being exiled to the wastelands beyond city walls. Now Season 2 will return to the game’s rip-roaring USP: the titular destruction derby where multiple murderous goons barrel around in vehicles machine-tooled to inflict major ballistic annihilation.

TV shows and movies based on books can stand equal chances of becoming beloved by fans of the source material or rejected by viewers who don’t get what they imagined. Jane Austen’s novels have been frequently adapted, and Netflix got in the game in 2022 with Persuasion, starring Dakota Johnson. Now, the streamer has begun production on a limited series adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, and – much like Mrs. Bennet when her daughters are vexing her – I’m full of nerves. The cast looks great, but a few years haven’t been enough for me to fully get over Persuasion.

Netflix’s Pride And Prejudice Cast Bodes Well
As one of many Pride and Prejudice book fans, I’ve been hopeful about Netflix’s six-part limited series ever since the news broke that it’s intended to be a faithful adaptation of the novel. I loved Pride & Prejudice (2005) with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen’s hand flex as much as anybody despite its changes from the source material, but a faithful adaptation sounds promising.
beloved that it got a shout out in Barbie. Emma Corrin was impressive enough in The Crown that she seems like a good fit for Elizabeth Bennet, while Slow Horses‘ Jack Lowden seems perfectly capable of some classic Mr. Darcy yearning/brooding. Plus, take a look at the list of main Bennets and their extended family:
Netflix cast, and I might be downright excited… if the past few years had been enough for me to really 100% get over Persuasion (2022).

Why I Regret Watching Netflix’s Persuasion (Twice)
Be warned – you’re about to read a take on Netflix’s Persuasion from somebody who loved the book!
While I’m happy to embrace adaptations that take liberties with source material as long as they’re done well, I have a limit, and that limit is apparently Netflix’s 2022 take on Jane Austen’s Persuasion. I regret to say that I watched the movie not once but twice, the second time for the sake of compiling a list of big differences between the novel and the movie.
I will be the first to admit that Persuasion is a hard book to adapt. So much of the narrative comes via an introspective heroine who hides her own feelings, with a hero who can be petty and – in his own words – “resentful” for a decent chunk of the book. Plus, the inciting event of the story takes place the better part of a decade before the novel’s first chapter. It’s not a book that’s easily adaptable for the screen.
But Netflix’s version plays out like somebody wanted to make another Pride and Prejudice, but instead settled for Persuasion and tried to substitute Lizzie Bennet in for Anne Elliot. My issue wasn’t with the modern tweaks to the dialogue or casting, but just with how the leading lady was presented. My last hope for it by the end was that it would deliver a solid adaptation of The Greatest Love Letter Ever Written (a.k.a. Captain Wentworth’s letter to Anne), but I was out of luck.
I’ve heard from viewers who never read the source material that Persuasion (2022) is a fun watch, and I can believe that I would have enjoyed it if I hadn’t gone in with a favorite book in my mind. No judgment to people who did enjoy it for what it was!
The problem for me is just that while I can love retellings of Jane Austen books that modernize the stories as long as the characters are generally true (like Clueless as an adaptation of Emma) to the source material, Persuasion (2022) just didn’t feel like the story of Jane Austen’s Anne Elliot. Justified or not, my fear for Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice is that I’ll come away with the same feeling about its take on Elizabeth Bennet.

Where To Find Jane Austen Adaptations While Waiting For Netflix’s Pride And Prejudice
At the time of writing, Pride and Prejudice has started production, but there’s no word of when exactly the six-part limited series will become available for anybody with a Netflix subscription. If you want a fix of Jane Austen on screen sooner rather than later, you can find the 1995 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice streaming with a Hulu subscription, as well as the 2008 limited series version of Sense and Sensibility. 2005’s Pride and Prejudice is available on Prime Video and HBO Max as well.
If that’s not enough, there are offerings outside of Pride and Prejudice as well! Both the 2020 movie adaptation of Emma (starring Anya Taylor-Joy) and the excellent limited series (starring Romola Garai and Jonny Lee Miller) can be found with a Peacock subscription, with a Paramount+ subscription offering Clueless as another take on Emma. If you really want to branch out, you can find the Lizzie Bennet Diaries and Emma Approved web series on YouTube.
As for Persuasion, the 2008 miniseries is available with a Prime Video subscription. While I personally prefer the 1995 adaptation with Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds… well, the 2008 version beats the 2022 version on Netflix, as far as I’m concerned.
(L to R) Taron Egerton and Ana Sophia Heger star in ‘She Rides Shotgun’.
Opening in theaters on August 1st is the new crime thriller ‘She Rides Shotgun’ from director Nick Rowland (‘Calm with Horses’), which stars Taron Egerton (‘Rocketman’), Ana Sophia Heger (‘Life in Pieces’), Rob Yang (‘Succession’), Odessa A’zion (‘Until Dawn’), David Lyons (‘Safe Haven’), and John Carroll Lynch (‘Ballard’).
Moviefone recently had the pleasure of speaking with Taron Egerton and Ana Sophia Heger about their work on ‘She Rides Shotgun’, Egerton’s first reaction to the screenplay, Heger’s character’s relationship with her father, and what it was like for the two actors to work together on set.

Moviefone: To begin with, Taron, what was your first reaction to reading the screenplay and what were some of the aspects of your character that you were excited to explore on screen?
Taron Egerton: I was very moved by the screenplay, and I felt that these were two people that I felt that I knew and really cared about. So, when something that is that compulsively readable, but also feels real in a way that you believe they’re real people, that’s very compelling. It’s a compelling prospect to inhabit one of those roles. I love that he’s nothing like me. I love that he’s seems like one thing but is another. You know, it’s so often in life, there’s such a truth, I think, in life with where things will seem at first glance, unfriendly or unwelcoming in some way, and with a little bit of effort, a little bit of engagement, that’s quickly demonstrated to not be the case. That’s often my experience of the world anyway, and I love that Nate encapsulates that. He’s a man that when you first meet him, you assume who he is very quickly and some of those assumptions are probably well deserved, but the core of him, the heart of him, is good, and I love that about him.
MF: Ana, can you talk about Polly’s estranged relationship with her father, how that grows through the course of the film, and what it was like creating that relationship with Taron?
Ana Sophia Heger: Well, so in the beginning of the movie, you see that they obviously haven’t been together for five years, so they don’t really know each other. They must go through all these crazy things together that throughout the movie, they just start bonding. I just thought that was special and it was. It was easy bonding with him because he’s nice in real life.

MF: Finally, Taron, what was your experience like working with Ana on this movie?
TE: Look, we just connected very easily and very quickly, and I think we both felt it was very easy for us both to feel that the story was important. When it feels important, it feels like it’s no longer about you, it’s about the project. Then you gain a lot of energy for free. That’s the truth of it. It’s when the project feels more important than anything that you have going on, it all starts to happen very easily in my experience, or more easily. You just get a lot of free energy. I think we both really cared about Nate and Polly’s story, and we wanted to really do it justice and although they’re not real people, they felt real to us. We wanted to do the best job we could playing them. So, I think the abundant emotion in the piece came quite readily in this situation and that’s not always the case.

It’s only week three, and Big Brother Season 27 has been a mess. I mean that in the best way. We have seen sporadic game play, staged and real fights, and lovely gowns. So many lovely gowns. One of the main people bringing drama and mess is Rachel Reilly.
We knew we could expect this from such an iconic player like Rachel. However, I wasn’t expecting her to change my opinions on returning players. I will be frank, I hate returning players — not them as people, just the idea of putting someone back in the house who played before.
This is an opinion I developed from years of seeing similar storylines play out on the Big Brother Live Feeds and the episodes. Even if it’s a player I love, I don’t want to see them back… well, I didn’t until this season.
Rachel would likely be on Big Brother 27 before the show started. I even predicted the return of players months before this season finished casting, so I was prepared to dislike this return. Nevertheless, I think the season has been so entertaining, partly because of Rachel. She adds so much to the show.
Rachel Has Been Able To Show Her Personal And Big Brother Growth, And That’s Amazing To Watch
I know Rachel as this bold character, always getting into arguments, and just being a mess, but so entertaining. That was the Rachel of Big Brother 12 and 13. We’re on Big Brother 27. That means it’s been 14 seasons since she last played. She also got married and had two children since appearing on the show. She’s experienced so much growth, and it shows.
Rachel has still caused some drama and fights, but it’s nowhere near as intense as her past seasons. She has mellowed out. Naturally, with life and experience, people change and grow, but it’s interesting to watch that happen from the lens of such a unique series as Big Brother. I think Rachel is a great Big Brother winner, but I have never been a huge fan. I didn’t love or hate her, just wasn’t a personality that I connected with in past seasons.
Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News
However, Big Brother 27 has really endeared me to this version of Rachel. It’s also made me admire and appreciate her love story with Brendon. Hearing her talk about her life with him and their love story shows how deep their connection is and was. I could only learn to appreciate it now, hearing how it has stood the test of time. It’s a real-life romantic movie.

It’s Not The Rachel Show
Another thing that often bothers me about returning players in a sea of newbies is that the newbies often become background characters to the vet. Rachel is a major presence on Big Brother 27, but she’s not the only one occupying a lot of screen time. There are so many big personalities and players who want to be seen.
If Rachel is evicted, the season won’t struggle to find new characters to focus on, because there are plenty of them. I know players like Jimmy, Kelley, Keanu, Ava, and Vince just as well as Rachel because they have been featured on the episodes plenty. And as an avid Live Feeds watcher, I know the people stirring the game like Mickey, Zach, and Morgan, even if they’re not featured as much on the show.
Big Brother 27 has felt balanced in terms of highlighting Rachel as a major figure and not ignoring these new important players. It’s giving the newbies a spotlight just as much as it is Rachel. The same can’t always be said in similar seasons with one or a few vets and a bunch of new players.
I Am Not confident Rachel Will Make It Far Or Win
Almost every season of Big Brother and Big Brother Canada that has included returning players has had a returning player in the finale. Every year, the houseguests make the mistake of letting the returning player stay too long and end up being betrayed by them.
They also find themselves more pawns in the vet’s game than actually orchestrating much. This may not exactly be the case this season. Most of the Big Brother 27 houseguests want to keep Rachel around until jury begins, but not to the end.
Rachel also hasn’t been winning competitions yet. Therefore, it seems like she may be at the mercy of other houseguests because she cannot take control with competition wins. Additionally, unlike with previous seasons, these houseguests seem very aware that Rachel is a threat who should not make it to the end.
In week one, Zae also called out Rachel for wanting to be the first two-time Big Brother winner. Because people know how much she wants that title, they may not give it to her out of spite. So even if Rachel makes it to finale night, her win doesn’t seem guaranteed. Rachel already seems like she will have a hard road to victory, which shows this season may not follow the same pattern as past seasons with vets. That makes it more fun to watch.
I Appreciate Her Love For The Game And Show, And It Makes Me Respect Her More
Like most Big Brother fans, I have a love-hate relationship with the series. However, I really am that annoying fan who doesn’t enjoy watching people play who don’t respect and love the game. The Big Brother casting team seems to have shifted its focus from superfans to mainly recruited players. These players often don’t know the history of the show, nor care to learn it. Some just want their 15 minutes of fame. Some even don’t want to win the money. Those players frustrate me.
Rachel is so refreshing to watch on Big Brother 27 because she has experienced the show twice before and loves and respects the game and experience. She may not be the most strategic Big Brother player of all time, but she’s passionate about it. And sometimes that’s enough. It’s enough to just care about the game, want to play it, and make the show entertaining.
Seeing Rachel’s love for the game is a joy to watch, and seeing how it’s inspiring some of the players who were maybe unfamiliar with the show before to find their passion for it.
I am still conflicted on the topic of returning players on Big Brother (except in a limited format), but if they give the series the same energy and entertainment as Rachel, I may gladly welcome them.
Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS are ahead for the Season 1 finale of Destination X on NBC, available streaming next day with a Peacock subscription.
The first season of Destination X has come to an end, with the finale revealing alliances and betrayals that determined who among Rick Szabo, Biggy Bailey, and Peter Weber would win the $250,000 grand prize. I’ve had fun watching the series as it aired after new episodes of America’s Got Talent, but no episode really hooked me as much as when the series premiere hoodwinked me earlier in the 2025 TV schedule.
I was still happy to celebrate Rick getting the win by identifying Big Ben in London, and there’s some real charm in a professional birdwatcher coming out on top. But it wasn’t until I read some comments from host Jeffrey Dean Morgan that I realized that part of my happiness for Rick was likely because I was rooting against another competitor more than I knew. Sorry, Pilot Pete, but I just really didn’t want you to win!
The Bachelor or The Traitors. After all, gaining fame in Bachelor Nation (whether or not you’re there for the right reasons) doesn’t make one a geography expert, being banished from The Traitors Season 2 cast doesn’t transform a competitor into a master cartographer, and working as a pilot doesn’t guarantee the ability to crack clues. No, I didn’t really care that much that Peter came in with reality TV experience.
Parade. He said:
I give big props to the casting department. Now, going forward, say we do a Season 2. I kind of like the mix of having some newbies as well as some veterans. And maybe also it would behoove us to do kind of what Traitors does, and have an ‘all-star’ sort of thing of reality show vets come on and do the show. But I like the newbies. I like the guys [who] have never done this before. And you know, someone like Rick, who gets to walk away with the big prize, who we’d never seen before, a bird watcher from Canada, I think that’s kind of cool. I wonder what the audience would think if Peter had come on Episode 3 and then won it, if people think that that’s fair.
Peter Weber was one of two reality stars who got to make late arrivals to Destination X, as he was joined by Love Island USA vet JaNa Craig to move into the bus in Episode 3. JaNa didn’t last long in competition, but Peter obviously made it to the very end. Jeffrey Dean Morgan raised the question of whether “people think that that’s fair” if he’d been the champion; I can’t speak for everybody, but I sure wouldn’t have seen it as 100% fair.
That said, I can’t disagree with Morgan’s additional point that it “makes for good TV if the audience knows some people,” and Deal or No Deal Island did something similar by casting Survivor legend Boston Rob Mariano for Season 1. And the format of Destination X means that what Morgan described as Peter and JaNa being “very savvy” and “very smart” about reality TV dynamics won’t be enough to win. Savviness isn’t enough when you also need to identify locations in Europe! The playing field would have been pretty even if everybody started at the same time.
Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News
On the whole, I’m on board if Destination X is renewed and brings in reality TV celebs on the same level as The Bachelor and Love Island vets, but would find it a whole lot easier to root for them if they also have to start at the beginning like everybody else. Was Peter Weber an entertaining part of the final stages of Season 1 thanks to his secret alliance? Sure, but I don’t think I’ll change my mind that it would have been unfair for him to beat Rick or Biggy.
If you want to relive the wild ride of Destination X Season 1, you can find the episodes streaming on Peacock. Jeffrey Dean Morgan seems open to returning for a second season, especially after he revealed why he finally took the hosting job. The ratings as America’s Got Talent’s primetime partner were also solid, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see NBC bring the show back as a new summer staple.
I don’t know about you, but I felt just as blindsided as James Reece (Chris Pratt) was at the end of The Terminal List when he found out that his friend and confidant, Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch), had betrayed him. Now, obviously, I get why Ben did this, because he explained his reasoning before he was killed. However, there’s still so much more to this story, I can just tell. So, thank goodness we’re getting a spinoff on the 2025 TV schedule all about this complex character.
How The Terminal List Ended For Ben Edwards
So, I did not contribute to The Terminal List’s 1.6 billion minutes watched when it originally came out in 2022. I binged it with my Amazon Prime subscription weeks before Dark Wolf’s premiere. Therefore, knowing Taylor Kitsch was getting his own show played a big part in my interpretation of and shock over the series.
Amazon’s best shows might give us an answer.
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf Will Serve As Ben’s Origin Story
Here’s why I’m so relieved Ben is getting his spinoff, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf: I need to know when and why he changed and lost his undying loyalty to Reece and co. When did he decide to betray his brothers? What changed him to the point where he felt like he could or had to make the choice? How did his time in the CIA change him after he left the SEALs?
Thankfully, it seems like The Terminal List: Dark Wolf will answer at least some of those questions. The series, which premieres its first three episodes on Wednesday, August 27, will serve as Ben’s origin story. Amazon’s synopsis states that it will follow Kitsch’s character “throughout his journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations.” It also promises to be an “espionage thriller that explores the darker side of warfare and the cost that comes with it.”
Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News
I’m really hopeful that we’ll get some necessary backstory here that adds some depth to Ben’s moral greyness, and I personally can’t wait to watch it. That feeling increased tenfold when I re-watched the trailer for Dark Wolf after seeing the original series, and heard Ben say:
When we step on that battlefield, we fight for each other. This is why it’s so hard to give up that brotherhood.
So, that tells me we’ll get to see some events play out that lead to him ultimately giving up this “brotherhood” he found in the military. The trailer, which you can see below, also features Tom Hopper’s Raife Hastings talking about the importance of knowing how to find the breaks and stop as a whole bunch of violence happens.
It seems like Ben is a loose cannon, looser than he was in The Terminal List, and that will likely play into the choices he makes that eventually lead to his fatal fate at the end of the original series.
The Terminal List is one of Taylor Kitsch’s best projects, and his character was such a fascinating part of the series. So, I’m thrilled he’s getting a spinoff, and we might finally get some backstory to the biggest betrayal of Season 1.
