Action Thriller ‘Tin Soldier’ Trailer #2 with Foxx, De Niro, Leguizamo

“This is your last chance for you to save her life…” Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted their own official trailer for an action thriller movie titled Tin Soldier, the latest directed by Brad Furman (of The Lincoln Lawyer, Runner Runner). It’s set for a theatrical debut in the US this September. We already posted the UK trailer a few months ago, because it’s already streaming in the UK now. “The Bokushi” offers a program for US combat veterans seeking their “purpose” and path forward. But now the Government is concerned with the rapid rise of this well-armed, highly trained program of elite mercenaries, so they recruit one who used to be a member to infiltrate & stop them. Starring Jamie Foxx, Robert De Niro, Scott Eastwood, John Leguizamo, Joey Bicicchi, and Rita Ora. What the hell is going on with this movie? Big elaborate sets, explosions galore, Foxx leading this cult of mercenaries. What a crazy weird movie! And not in a good way…

Here’s the official US trailer (+ poster) for Brad Furman’s action movie Tin Soldier, direct from YouTube:

Nash agrees to use his vulnerable past & insider knowledge of the enigmatic leader to finally get revenge on the man who took everything from him, including the love of his life. Tin Soldier is directed by American filmmaker Brad Furman, the director of The Take, The Lincoln Lawyer, Runner Runner, The Infiltrator, City of Lies previously. The screenplay is written Jess Fuerst and Pablo Fenjves, with Brad Furman. Produced by Steven Chasman, Brad Feinstein, Jess Fuerst, Brad Furman, Keith Kjarval, Jim Seibel. 32 Movies And TV Shows About The Military Set In The Future

32 Movies And TV Shows About The Military Set In The Future

I’m a big fan of Sci Fi movies, and I’m a huge fan of great war movies. Sometimes, those two genres meet. It’s not always with spectacular results, if I’m honest, but I still end up looking forward to movies and shows that bring them together. I’m talking about movies like Dune and Starship Troopers, and TV shows like Battlestar Galactica and Silo. This is a list dedicated to movies like that. So grab your gear and let’s get into the action.

Dune

There are a lot of things that make Dune one of the best science fiction stories of all time. War is a major theme throughout the whole series and certainly something the recent movies have focused on. The politics of war and various armies across the universe feature heavily.

Hailee Steinfeld, Harrison Ford, and Viola Davis, and rich source material from the original novel to draw on, Ender’s Game was a critical and box office disappointment, some of which is because of some controversy surrounding the book’s author. However, if you’re like me and enjoy this kind of movie, about the young trainees in a futuristic army, you will certainly find things to like about the movie.

not among them. That said, it’s a movie that definitely belongs on this list. It’s about a military mission, though the critiques of the military are a little heavy-handed, and it’s one of the biggest box office draws of all time, so whether I like it or not, I’m including it.

Star Trek series and movie.

Firefly is a bit of an edge case. While most of the crew of the spaceship Serenity are ex-military, the show itself doesn’t have many of the elements of a futuristic army, more a rag-tag crew of space explorers. It’s as much a space western in the style of Star Wars as anything else.

Sigourney Weaver). One of the most iconic moments in the movie comes when the Marines all wake up from their long trip and Sgt. Apone says. “Another day in the core!”

The Hunger Games didn’t start with a military of the future as a key component, but it certainly ends with two militaries, both the revolutionaries and the army from The Capitol, in the final two movies of the original franchise. It’s a great example of two different kinds of armies, as well.

Pacific Rim from director Guillermo del Toro. This is a bit of an edge case, because it’s not really set in the distant future (the 2013 movie was actually set in 2020), the presence of a great military leader like Marshal Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba) means it absolutely demands to be on this list. It’s not like we have technology like the Mechas in the movie anyway, so it feels very futuristic.

such a great show, I had to include it. Common plays the head of security in Silo, and while they aren’t strictly a military organization, they operate very much like one. They are also oppressive and scary, as the military is often shown to be in dystopian futures, like the one in Silo. So it works for me.

called Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars.

The Chronicles of Riddick

Though The Chronicles of Riddick is actually a sequel to Pitch Black, it is far more militaristic in its style than the first movie in the series, which was more of a horror flick. Vin Diesel plays a former bounty hunter on the run from a crew of other hunters who operate very much like a military unit.

The Creator

2023’s The Creator is a movie that not enough people have seen. Set in a near-ish future (2065), it stars John David Washington as Sergeant Joshua Taylor, who is part of a force helping to shut down all AI, which has turned against humanity. It’s a complicated movie, but it looks amazing, and you should see it just for that.

Stars of Defiance

Defiance

Dystopian futures are always a popular way for shows and movies to show what the future of the military looks like, and sometimes those shows feature rag-tag groups of veterans of a past war just trying to survive, as in Defiance. It’s another show that didn’t seem to get the kind of attention it deserved from the general public when it ran from 2013 to 2015 on Syfy.

I Just Found Out How Much Pamela Anderson Got Paid For Baywatch Early On, And It’s Way Less Than I Would Have Expected

When I think of Baywatch, I automatically think of Pamela Anderson’s iconic role in the TV show. However, I just found out how much the actress got paid early on to be in the show, and it’s definitely a lot less cash than what I would have expected. While promoting her leading role in what’s apparently one of the funniest 2025 movie releases, The Naked Gun, the actress spilled on what she originally made and how that compared to David Hasselhoff’s amount.

How Much Was Pamela Anderson Paid For Baywatch?

When Pamela Anderson was on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show with The Naked Gun cast promoting the comedy, the host asked what she was making when she joined the series in 1992. Here’s what she said:

At the beginning. Yeah, like $1,500 I think an episode, which is low for TV.

Guinness World Records. Cohen followed up his question by asking when her first renegotiation took place. In her words:

The New York Post) that most actors on the show weren’t happy with their paycheck, with Nicole Eggert sharing they offered everyone “like $3,500 a show”. As the actress pointed out, it was a big difference to Friends where they were making “$1 million an episode”. The cast also claimed that “everyone was disposable” on Baywatch, and if you didn’t “fit into their brand” and the “price they were paying you, you were gone.”

How Did It Compare To David Hasselhoff?

After seeing this interview, I also learned that Pamela Anderson actually spent most of her life in debt. In her viral Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story, it was revealed that she spent most of her life dealing with financial woes, even though at one time, she was one of the most famous women in the world. During the same Cohen interview, the host asked her if she thought she made the same as co-star David Hasselhoff. Here’s her response:

Are you kidding? No, of course not. No. I mean, I don’t get residuals even from Baywatch. I mean, I think, you know, I mean, you sign these contracts. First of all, you don’t know there’s gonna be streaming… And I didn’t really have a lot of representation back then, so, yeah. I mean, it’s okay. Here I am doing what I’m doing now, but yeah. That’s a rabbit hole you don’t want to talk to my kids about.

I’d like to think that if Baywatch premiered today things would be different, but it is what it is for Pamela Anderson. The 58-year-old icon shared that her kids are “very protective” over the fact that she didn’t get what she deserved on Baywatch and isn’t getting streaming residuals because the medium didn’t exist when she signed her contract. It sounds like they are ready to fight for her, and perhaps change those circumstances.

However, Anderson she said she likes what she’s “doing” right now. Considering CinemaBlend’s The Naked Gun review, we like what she’s doing right now, too!

Why Jenna Ortega’s ‘Trust’ In The Wednesday Season 2 Writers Gives Me So Much Confidence Going Into These New Episodes

Why Jenna Ortega’s ‘Trust’ In The Wednesday Season 2 Writers Gives Me So Much Confidence Going Into These New Episodes

Jenna Ortega turned a lot of heads with her snakeskin look at the London Wednesday premiere on Wednesday, but I want to talk about one question she answered while on the purple carpet for the show’s second season. Following all the controversy over Ortega and her thoughts on the writer’s room, she was asked how she shaped Wednesday’s storyline as an executive producer this time around. And, her comments have me more excited for the episodes to come.

Jenna Ortega Shares Her Role As Executive Producer On Wednesday Season 2

MTV asked the actress about how her role as executive producer helped shape Wednesday Addams’ arc this season. Here’s how she responded:

The story arc was actually happening while we were filming, so it was just more so, you know as the scripts were coming in and as the episodes were going, it was quick shifts and changes, but we really have so much trust in our writers, so I kind of let them do what they needed to do, and then when Tim [Burton] and I felt the need to step in we did. But, it always was in a like adding on top of or elaborating to a further extent.

calling her statements “beyond and entitled and toxic,” and backlash about it blew up so much further that she was quoted on the writer’s strike picket line signs. She has since said that she “probably could have used [her] words better” and got so “sick” of herself and how her words came back to bite her later.

However, there was change on Wednesday, and now Ortega is more involved and seemingly a lot happier with the collaborative process.

These new comments show a much more cohesive opinion of the writers from Jenna Ortega, and signal to me that she, Tim Burton and the creators of Wednesday are on the same page regarding the direction of Wednesday as a series and the direction of Wednesday Addams as a character.

Previously, the creators of Wednesday had said that Ortega is “very involved” in the making of Season 2. But rather than the actress coming out and talking about all the things about the series she put her name on specifically, I appreciate how she is calling the TV show for what it is, a collaborative process where the writers are doing a lot of legwork to provide the storyline of the series.

As a fan, I definitely understood both points of view in the controversy, because I could see how, as a young woman, Ortega might not feel like she resonated with all the writing. However, at the same time how the writers might have felt undermined by her alleged behavior and attitude about it. With her now as an executive producer, she has more behind-the-scenes agency, and I think it’s going to make Wednesday Season 2 better all around for it.

Part 1 of Wednesday Season 2 is set to premiere for those with a Netflix subscription on August 6.

The Batman Writer Teases DC Project For Another Character, And I Have Theories

The Batman Writer Teases DC Project For Another Character, And I Have Theories

As we start to move forward in the realm of upcoming DC movies, the future seems to be getting a bit clearer. That can be applied to both James Gunn’s mainline narrative in DCU Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters and the “Elseworlds” concerned with what we know about The Batman: Part II.

Returning co-writer Mattson Tomlin has brought the spotlight back to these parallel developments, with a two word tease as to what, or rather who, he’d like to bring into the DCU. But since when has a tease stopped me, or any fan really, from speculating what it could mean?

Mattson Tomlin’s Cryptic Message Doesn’t Leave A Lot To Go On

Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader facing off against the supercomputer H.A.R.D.A.C.

That villain hails from what I consider to be one of the best Batman: The Animated Series episodes, the two-parter “Heart of Steel.” I’m not just joking when I throw that name out however, as looking at Tomlin’s resume seems to point towards a more positive role model that he could be looking to reinvent.

I Think Mattson Tomlin Could Bring Cyborg To James Gunn’s DCU

I’ll admit, that’s a pretty big jump to make based on two words – so take a moment and yell at your screen if you need to. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, looking at Mr. Tomlin’s resume, two projects stick out to me: 2021’s Mother/Android and one of my favorite Netflix series, 2024’s T2-enhancing Terminator Zero. Even with Project Power, the question of where the line stands between ones humanity and something entirely different is something that The Batman: Part II co-scribe has been preoccupied with.

Since we were robbed of a stand-alone Cyborg movie starring Ray Fisher’s DCEU incarnation, that feels like a cozy prospect for the man of the moment to tackle. I mean, the first chapter in the DCU is titled “Gods and Monsters;” which further highlights the theme of creations and their creators being an important one.

A Potential G.I. Robot Movie Would Also Be A Welcomed Fit

You can blame my recent thoughts on Superman’s potential Bizarro ending, as well as Creature Commandos’ storyline between Eric Frankenstein and The Bride (which is readily available for streaming through an HBO Max subscription) for putting me in that headspace. At the same time, it’s undeniable that if this thesis I seem to be detecting is the truth, a Cyborg movie in James Gunn’s DCU would be a rather appropriate fit.

That said, what if fellow Commandos vet G.I. Robot could be up for a picture that expands on his earlier days as an anti-fascist killing machine? The World War II setting would be a welcomed throwback, with the potential for an Elseworlds adaptation of DC: The New Frontier – more specifically its story involving that universe’s WWII incarnation of The Losers.

It’s a lot of theory to pour over, coming from a simple two word response; but that’s part of the fun that helps pass the time when waiting for our next fixes of DC movie magic! Flashing back to what we do know, The Batman: Part II is set to return on October 1, 2027 – with Mattson Tomlin and Matt Reeves celebrating a finished script on James Gunn’s desk! Meanwhile, you can see how the DCU started its theatrical portion with Superman, in theaters now.

Fans Want Taron Egerton To Play Wolverine, But There’s A Hugh Jackman-Oriented Thing He Feels People Are Missing

Fans Want Taron Egerton To Play Wolverine, But There’s A Hugh Jackman-Oriented Thing He Feels People Are Missing

Taron Egerton has had a lot of success in his young acting career, from starring in the Kingsman movies to playing Elton John in Rocketman. He has maintained steady work, seemingly always having a film to promote, or one in the can that is heading to the big screen very soon. However, there was a time when Egerton seemed like he might take on the mantle as the next Wolverine, which was supported by fans and big names like Joe Russo. However, the rumor has fizzled, and now the actor is getting real about what it could be like to actually take that on, as well as the Hugh Jackman factor of it all.

Recently, Egerton chatted about his project on the 2025 movie schedule, She Rides Shotgun, as well as what it has been like to work on a number of different kinds of projects throughout his varied and wide-ranging career on an episode of Happy, Sad, Confused. When the conversation turned to Wolverine, he had a hard time talking about once being a prospect for the role, especially because it never got past fan casting and the rumor mill. He said:

Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, and I think, it feels like, I don’t know, the trouble is that whenever I get asked about this, I have to respond, because I’m, I hope, a reasonably polite person. But it sounds like I’m the one causing it. And it’s like ‘No.’ I’m trying to live my life. I think it’s like, there was a moment, that I won’t lie, there was a moment probably one of the first times the rumor mill wound up about it where I thought ‘That’d be cool.’ But I think it never came to anything other than a rumor.

coming back to play Logan in Deadpool and Wolverine after previously retiring from the part in 2017. Egerton wanted to emphasize this point and why it was more interesting and effective for Jackman to return rather than recasting the character. He said:

Taron Egerton/Wolverine fan art I’ve seen around. However, I think the Rocketman actor has a good head on his shoulders to know what he can handle, and I’m just as excited to see him take on other ventures.

You can see Taron Egerton in She Rides Shotgun, which hits theaters on August 1, 2025. Fans can also see him in the new crime drama series, Smoke, which is currently streaming with an AppleTV+ subscription. So, as you can see, while he won’t be taking on this X-Man, he is still working hard and producing high-quality projects that are well worth the watch time!
