Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kooky Film ‘Dogtooth’ 4K Restoration New Trailer

“If you stay inside, you are protected.” Kino Lorber has revealed a brand new trailer for the 4K re-release of the iconically weird Yorgos Lanthimos film titled Dogtooth, which originally premiered back in 2009. Before he went on to make the hit films The Lobster, The Favourite, Kinds of Kindness, and Poor Things, Yorgos Lanthimos rocked the cinema world with Dogtooth – which earned rave reviews at its initial Cannes Film Festival premiere before earning a surprise Best Foreign Language Film nomination in early 2011. A controlling, manipulative father locks his three adult offspring in a state of perpetual childhood by keeping them prisoner within the sprawling family compound with strict rules. Starring Christos Stergioglou, Mary Tsoni, Christos Passalis, and Michele Valley. Restored in 4K from the 35mm camera & sound negatives by Boo Productions and mk2 Films at Asterisk* Post and I Hear Voices sound studio. With color grading by Gregory Arvanitis and Thimios Bakatakis. And digital sound restoration by Landros Ntounis. The 4K restoration process was supervised Lanthimos. This film is definitely not for everyone, but it’s a fabulous example of Yorgos’ quirky, kinky, playful ideas & how he prefers narratives that go against the grain. Enjoy.

Dogtooth 4K Restoration Poster

Graceful, enigmatic, often frightening, Dogtooth is an ingenious dark comedy that won a prize during the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and an Academy Award nom for Best Foreign Language Film, propelling director Yorgos Lanthimos to the forefront of contemporary cinema’s most ambitious filmmakers. In an effort to protect their three children from the corrupting influence of the outside world, a Greek couple transforms their home into a gated compound of cultural deprivation & very strict rules of behavior. But children cannot remain innocent forever. When the father brings home a young woman to satisfy his son’s sexual urges, the family’s engineered “reality” begins to crumble, with devastating consequences. Like the haunting, dystopic visions of Michael Haneke & Gaspar Noé, Dogtooth punctuates its compelling drama with moments of shocking violence, creating a biting social satire that is as profound as it is provocative.

Dogtooth is directed by visionary Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, his third feature film at the time after My Best Friend and Kinetta, and just before making Alps after. The screenplay is written by Efthymis Filippou & Yorgos Lanthimos (the same duo that would go on to write The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Nimic, Kinds of Kindness). Produced by Yorgos Tsourgiannis. It first premiered at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival years ago, and was nominated for an Oscar in 2011. Kino Lorber will re-release Dogtooth in 4K starting on June 20th, 2025 with more cities throughout the summer. For details, visit their official site.

Official Trailer for Albert Serra’s Matador Doc ‘Afternoons of Solitude’

“Riveting.” Grasshopper Film has revealed the official US trailer for the documentary film from Spain titled Afternoons of Solitude, directed by acclaimed Catalan-Spanish filmmaker Albert Serra. It premiered at the 2024 San Sebastian Film Festival last year, and also played at NYFF, Tokyo, Tromso, Palm Springs, and many other festivals. Now set for release in the US in art house cinemas this summer. The film follows one matador, a famous bullfighter – it’s still a sport that happens regularly all the time in Spain. The life of the bullfighter Andrés Roca Rey during a day of bullfighting, from the moment he dresses up to the moment he undresses. Serra’s doc “explores the spiritual pain of bullfighting, the tormented torero in a ring, one of the most excessive & graphic examples of the origin of Southern European civilization.” Uh huh. Sounds like Serra just likes watching bullfighting. This purely observational doc is described as a “spellbinding blend of showmanship & barbarity.” Definitely not for anyone who hates this violent towards animals Spanish sport.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Albert Serra’s doc film Afternoons of Solitude, from YouTube:

A film from the visionary director of Pacifiction, Albert Serra’s Afternoons of Solitude is a spellbinding documentary that turns its gaze on the ceremonial splendor and devastating brutality of bullfighting in Spain. With quiet intensity, Serra follows famed matador Andrés Roca Rey, from the solitude of his hotel room & meticulousness of his preparations to the charged spectacle of the arena. Through his immersive & unhurried lens, Serra reveals Rey’s profound physical, spiritual, aesthetic commitment to a centuries-old ritual—one that demands he take part in a timeless duel between man and beast. Afternoons of Solitude, also known as Tardes de Soledad in Spanish, is directed by the filmmaker Albert Serra, director of the films Crespià, Birdsong, 60 Seconds of Solitude in Year Zero, Story of My Death, The Death of Louis XIV, Roi Soleil, Liberté, Pacifiction previously. It’s produced by Pierre-Olivier Bardet, Luis Ferrón, Marta Lacima Ligero, Pedro Palacios, Ricard Sales, Joaquim Sapinho, Albert Serra, Montse Triola, & Marta Vieira Alves. Someone Finally Asked First Steps’ Director If RDJ’s Doctor Doom Will Appear. As A Fantastic Four Fan, I’m Curious About These Conflicting Rumors

Someone Finally Asked First Steps’ Director If RDJ’s Doctor Doom Will Appear. As A Fantastic Four Fan, I’m Curious About These Conflicting Rumors

There’s a lot riding on the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps when it hits theaters in July. It’s the third time the first family of comics has been adapted for the screen. It’s also the third MCU movie on the 2025 movie schedule, and the first two have failed to set the box office on fire. One thing First Steps has going for it is that the film is expected to be a major setup for next year’s Avengers: Doomsday, though if the director is to be believed, not in the way we think.

With a lot of fans already looking forward to the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday, and the fact that his character of Doctor Doom is traditionally seen opposing the Fantastic Four, there has been a lot of reason to believe that RDJ may appear in the upcoming Marvel movie first. However, the director says that’s not the case.

Despite Rumors, Fantastic Four Director Says Doctor Doom “Not Part Of My Film”

Empire asked director Matt Shakman about Doom, he responded (via CBM)…

post-credits scene in Thunderbolts* wasn’t part of the production of that movie, but is actually a scene from Doomsday that was snipped out and used as a stinger, as has happened before in the MCU. For that reason, the scene wasn’t the work of Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier, but was actually helmed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

The same thing could be true here. If the post-credits scene in Fantastic Four was actually shot to be part of Doomsday, then it’s not part of Matt Shakman’s film and likely wasn’t directed by him. He’s not saying anything that isn’t true, but that doesn’t mean the scene won’t be there.

We’ll have to sit through the credits of The Fantastic Four: First Steps to know for sure, but it’s not like a lot of Marvel fans weren’t already planning to do that.

ESPN Is Reportedly Thinking Of Shaking Up Its NBA Broadcasting Team Next Season, And I’m Sad That One Popular Name May Be On Their Way Out

ESPN Is Reportedly Thinking Of Shaking Up Its NBA Broadcasting Team Next Season, And I’m Sad That One Popular Name May Be On Their Way Out

ESPN has been in the proverbial hot seat as of late, with critics speaking out on everything from its NFL draft coverage to how it may handle Inside The NBA, which it acquired from TNT. Now, it appears there’s more chatter surrounding the network, as reports suggest it’s looking to shake up the commentary team it currently employs for NBA games. As Richard Jefferson, Doris Burke and Mike Breen prepare for the 2025 NBA Finals, a report is circulating that it’ll be their last series as a trio.

This three commentators have served as ESPN’s go-to team for NBA coverage for a little while now, but it’s looking like that lineup may not remain in tact, according to The Athletic. While two names of this bunch seem to be locked in as part of the network’s broadcasting team on game day going forward, one of them may be headed elsewhere.

accepting a challenging job as coach of the Lakers.

2025 has been quite a year for ESPN and broadcasters, as the network has contended with Shannon Sharpe stepping away amidst legal troubles as well as Stephen A. Smith feuding with LeBron James. While I’m not saying controversy could steer the network away from making a decision about its broadcasting team, there may be some viewers whoa re dissatisfied about the decision to take Doris Burke out of the mix.

It’s definitely not uncommon for ESPN to make changes to its staff or move personalities elsewhere. However, there is something sad about hearing that Doris Burke could potentially stop contributing to the network’s NBA coverage. She was the first female broadcaster to serve as an NBA game analyst on a national level, and she joined the lead commentary team in 2023.

It’s a relatively short tenure, but it’s a spot that I feel that Doris Burke has earned as much as anyone else at the table. Of course, the contract situation detailed above limits the amount of change that can occur, and Mike Breen has a long history as a sports broadcaster, which could protect his position.

As for Richard Jefferson, I think it’s clear that ESPN and other networks have leaned more into retaining former players over sports journalists on their staffs as of late. Jefferson also receives recognition as a former teammate of LeBron James, which only bolsters his popularity beyond his hilarious social media presence. I don’t blame ESPN for allegedly wanting to keep him on NBA games, but it’s still unfortunate that there’s a chance we’ll see Burke exit her post.

Of course, nothing is set in stone as of yet, and fans can still look forward to hearing Burke, Jefferson and Breen call the upcoming NBA Finals, which set to air on ABC beginning on Thursday, June 5th. It should be an exciting series between OKC and the Indiana Pacers, so even casual fans might want to tune in!

Kallmekris & CelinaSpookyBoo’s Horror Film ‘House On Eden’ Trailer

“Something’s happening in this house and we need to figure out what it is.” Well, yes, that’s literally the premise of your entire film. Shudder & RLJE have revealed the trailer for a found footage horror film called House On Eden. Set for a theatrical release first in July, then streaming on Shudder later this year. House On Eden is the feature debut from “content creators” Kris Collins (aka “Kallmekris”) and Celina Myers (aka “CelinaSpookyBoo”). The duo, best known as KallMeKris and CelinaSpookyBoo on social media, have collectively amassed a dedicated audience of over 70 million followers. It’s written and directed by Collins, who also stars alongside Myers and Jason-Christopher Mayer. Setting out to film their next paranormal investigation, Kris, Celina and Jay encounter a malevolent, ancient spirit residing in an abandoned house deep in the woods. Sadly there’s nothing interesting or scary about this – it looks like an entirely derivative horror concept ripping off Paranormal Activity & The Blair Witch Project and everything else before. Meh.

Here’s the first official trailer for Kallmekris’ horror film House On Eden, direct from Shudder’s YouTube:

House On Eden Film

Paranormal investigators Kris, Celina, and their videographer Jay expect the usual scares when they set out on their latest case. But after being mysteriously rerouted to an abandoned house deep in the woods, they find themselves facing a force unlike anything they’ve encountered before… As the night spirals into chaos, missing crew members and eerie phenomena start to hint at an ancient, malevolent presence that is watching their every move. House On Eden is a horror film written and directed by social media star / filmmaker Kris Collins, also known as “Kallmekris“, now making her feature directorial debut after also working on the “Smosh” web series. Produced by Kris Collins, Jason-Christopher Mayer, and Celina Myers. RLJE Films & Shudder will debut Kallmekris’ House On Eden film in select US theaters starting July 25th, 2025 this summer. It’ll also be streaming on Shudder later in the year. Look scary? Anyone want to watch?

‘Now We’re Getting Weird.’ Hayley Atwell Admits She’s A Well-Known Klepto On Sets And May Have Taken Tom Cruise’s Gym Socks

The 2025 movie schedule has finally delivered on the many promises held in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. While that “symphony of danger” has given us Ethan Hunt’s last impossible mission and amazing performances from lead Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, Angela Bassett and many more, the popcorn sharing cast is pretty clearly a close one behind the scenes. So close, apparently, that everyone is aware of Atwell’s propensity for theft on set, and now we know just how “weird” some of the items she steals can be.

What’s Been Revealed About Hayley Atwell Stealing From Mission: Impossible Sets?

It’s not unusual for actors to admit to taking things from movie or TV sets, especially when they’re nearing the end of their tenure for a long-running franchise or television series. However, once and potential future Marvel star Hayley Atwell seems to have developed quite a habit of filching items, not just from sets, but from restaurants and even her fellow Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning stars.

fashionable double train wearer appeared in an intriguing interview with MTV, known as LightsCameraDebate, with her co-star Simon Pegg. It was the long-time Benji Dunn actor who revealed that Atwell is known on set as “Klepto Atwell,” because of her “rampant thievery,” which led to this exchange between the actors and their interviewer, Josh Horowitz:

good advice from Cruise during her time working with him) possibly stealing the used gym socks of the franchise’s stunt-focused leading man. As a sock lover, I can honestly say that it would never occur to me to take another person’s dirty socks, regardless of how clean that person typically is. So, my sincerest hope is that the floating shoulder queen is kidding here, but there’s really no way to know.

If you think that was everything related to The Final Reckoning that Atwell copped to stealing, you have another thing coming. You can take a look at the clip to see what else she admitted to, below:

I’m sorry…WHAT?! She managed to remove actual items from an aware human being (co-star Greg Tarzan Davis) as they sat together for interviews and then reveal that she’d stolen from him and he had no clue? Sounds to me that Atwell has learned quite a bit from her M:I character, pro thief Grace, and if she ever decides to leave Hollywood behind, we might just know where her career will take her next.
