Excellent Trailer #2 for ‘The Long Walk’ Thriller with Cooper Hoffman
by Alex Billington
July 25, 2025
Source: YouTube

“I don’t have much to lose, but I have everything to gain – that’s why I’m here.” Dang, this looks fantastic! Lionsgate has marched out the second trailer for The Long Walk, an extremely intense new thriller from filmmakers Francis Lawrence & JT Mollner about a dystopian America. Based on storyteller Stephen King’s first-written novel, and Francis Lawrence, director of The Hunger Games films, comes this grueling story of boys out on a never-ending walk. In the near future, where America has become a police state, one hundred boys are selected to enter an annual contest where the winner will be awarded whatever he wants for the rest of his life. The brutal game is simple – maintain a steady walking pace of three miles per hour without stopping. Three warnings, and you’re out – forever. It’s win or die, on this walk. Starring Cooper Hoffman (from Licorice Pizza, Saturday Night) + David Jonsson (from Alien: Romulus), Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, Josh Hamilton, with Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill. This still looks like it might be one of the most riveting, full-on edge-of-your-seat thrillers of the year. All that walking, so crazy tiring, I can’t even imagine.
Here’s the second official trailer for Francis Lawrence’s movie The Long Walk, direct from YouTube:

You can watch the first official trailer for Francis Lawrence’s The Long Walk movie right here to see more.
From the highly anticipated adaptation of master storyteller Stephen King’s first-written novel (originally published in 1979), along with Francis Lawrence, the visionary director of The Hunger Games franchise films (Catching Fire, Mockingjay – Parts 1 & 2 , and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), comes The Long Walk, an intense, chilling, emotional thriller that challenges audiences to confront a haunting question: how far could you go? The Long Walk is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Francis Lawrence, director of the movies Constantine, I Am Legend, Water for Elephants, Hunger Games: Catching Fire + Mockingjay 1 & 2 + The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Red Sparrow, and Slumberland previously. The screenplay is written by JT Mollner, also the writer & director of the films Outlaws & Angels and Strange Darling. Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King (under the pseudonym Richard Bachman). Produced by Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Francis Lawrence, Cameron MacConomy. Lionsgate will debut Lawrence’s The Long Walk movie in theaters nationwide starting September 12th, 2025 later this year. Thoughts? Look good?

First Look Revealed for Vince Gilligan’s ‘Pluribus’ – New Sci-Fi Series
by Alex Billington
July 25, 2025
Source: YouTube

“Help yourself! :)” Apple TV has finally revealed a first look at the new series from the creator of Breaking Bad, writer Vince Gilligan, which is ready to debut at the end of 2025 (starting in November). His new sci-fi drama series is titled Pluribus – the Latin word is an adjective that means “much, many” (used in the U.S. slogan “E pluribus unum“). There’s still not much really known about what the show is about or what will be happening, but we finally have a one-line intro: The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness. Pluribus stars Rhea Seehorn (who was in Gilligan’s “Better Call Saul”) along with Carlos Manuel Vesga, Karolina Wydra, Miriam Shor, and Samba Schutte. This sounds like it will be closer to something like Apple TV’s hit show Severance rather than their other series Foundation (one of my faves) in terms of the sci-fi aspects of it. Perhaps she’s spreading some “miserable” illness around? The rest is being kept a secret for now. Stay tuned for any updates on this series throughout the rest of the year.
Here’s the date announcement teaser for Vince Gilligan’s new series Pluribus, from Apple TV’s YouTube:

“A new series from the creator of Breaking Bad.” The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness. The series is set in a present-day Albuquerque, New Mexico that faced an abrupt change away from the world as it is known. Pluribus is a sci-fi series created and showrun by TV writer / producer Vince Gilligan, best known as the creator of “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” who worked on them until they finished; also a writer on “The X-Files”, Hancock, “Metástasis”, and “Battle Creek”. With writing by Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Vera Blasi, Jenn Carroll, Jonny Gomez, Ariel Levine. And eps directed by Vince Gilligan and Byron Howard. Made by High Bridge Productions, Bristol Circle Entertainment, & Sony Pictures Television. Executive produced by Vince Gilligan, Jeff Frost, Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Allyce Ozarski, Diane Mercer. Apple debuts Gilligan’s Pluribus 9-episode series streaming on Apple TV+ starting November 7th, 2025 this fall with new episodes every Friday into December. Intrigued to find out more?

Watch: ‘Les Bêtes’ – Stop-Motion Fantasy Short Film Full of Creatures
by Alex Billington
July 25, 2025
Source: YouTube

Time for a party with all the creatures of the world. An award-winning animated short film is now online for everyone to watch. Les Bêtes (which is French for The Beasts) is the newest stop-motion animation film created by American director Michael Granberry. It recently premiered at the 2025 Annecy Film Festival and won the Jury Award & Vimeo Staff Pick Award. A mysterious rabbit with a set of magic keys summons a host of strange creatures to entertain a wicked king and his decadent court in this dark stop-motion fantasy inspired by the works of Ladislas Starevich (who used dead insects & other animals in his films). It’s dark and mysterious and wild – a unique creation. This nice review on SOTW says it perfectly: “Granberry doesn’t chase the polish of CGI; instead, he embraces the type of stop-motion that’s proud of looking monstrous. The kind that isn’t afraid to show its stitches and looks handmade – because it is.” There’s no voices in this, it’s all about the visuals and all the various creature creations. The ending is the best part – a fabulous finale.

Thanks to Short of the Week for the tip on this debuting online. Intro from YouTube: “A mysterious rabbit with a set of magic keys summons a host of strange creatures to entertain a wicked king and his decadent court in this dark stop-motion animated fantasy inspired by the works of Ladislas Starevich.” Starevich was an innovative Polish-Russian stop-motion animator notable as the author of the first puppet-animated film The Beautiful Leukanida (1912). Les Bêtes is producer and directed by American animation filmmaker Michael Granberry based in Portland, OR – you can view more of his unique work on his official website or follow him on IG @michaelgranberry. He also did work for Apple TV’s “Severance” and has made many other award-winning animated short films. Featuring an original score composed by Lito Velasco. With VFX by Cam Leeburg. It also just won the Jury Award for Best Short Film at Annecy 2025. For more info on the short, visit Michael’s site or SOTW. To enjoy more short films (including animation), click here. Thoughts?

by Alex Billington
July 25, 2025
Source: YouTube
“I don’t know if I can keep it inside me any longer… I keep hearing something…” What is that weird noise? Mongrel Media has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller film titled We’re Not Safe Here, marking the feature directorial debut of newcomer genre filmmaker Solomon Gray. This is being dumped on VOD starting in August coming soon – it’s another generic PG-13 horror flick that doesn’t look like it’s that interesting. After vanishing, a woman returns with a chilling tale. Now, she and her friend are hunted by a dark force that twists fear into reality. Such a vague synopsis with no real info – and that’s all there is online about this film. Starring Hayley McFarland as Rachel, Sharmita Bhattacharya, Margaret Wuertz, and Caisey Cole. Well, this looks like an instantly forgettable movie – don’t waste your time or money on it.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Solomon Gray’s horror film We’re Not Safe Here, from YouTube:

Days after her sudden disappearance, a woman reappears – distraught and carrying a disturbing story. What at first seems like a mystery soon takes a dark turn: an invisible force is hot on her heels and even her friend can’t stop it. As tensions rise, they must navigate a series of unexpected events to ensure their survival in an increasingly hostile environment. We’re Not Safe Here is both written and directed by genre filmmaker Solomon Gray, making their feature directorial debut with this project; also a writer on the horror film Hurt (2018) previously. Produced by Sonny Mallhi and Solomon Gray. This hasn’t premiered at any film festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Saban Films will debut Gray’s We’re Not Safe Here horror film in select US theaters + on VOD starting August 22nd, 2025 coming soon this summer. Looks scary?

Scott Adkins in Louis Mandylor’s Action Movie ‘Prisoner of War’ Trailer
by Alex Billington
July 25, 2025
Source: YouTube

“Oh, I will keep fighting. You can keep lining up your men. Eventually, you’ll just run out of warriors…” Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for Prisoner of War, yet another junk action movie from this group of stuntman / filmmakers. Also featuring a generic title, even though it is technically about a POW. “Behind enemy lines, survival is the only mission.” British RAF Wing Commander James Wright is captured by the Japanese during WWII and forced to fight in brutal hand to hand combat. The Japanese soldiers get more than they bargained for when Wright’s years of martial arts training in Hong Kong prove him to be a formidable opponent. Of course. Scott Adkins stars in Prisoner of War, directed by his fellow action actor Louis Mandylor, with Peter Shinkoda, Michael Copon, Gabbi Garcia, & Cowboy Cerrone. Well Go is dropping this on VOD in September if anyone wants to give it a go. This doesn’t seem as bad as most of these action movies these days – because it’s just focused on him fighting all these WWII Japanese soldiers.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Louis Mandylor’s action movie Prisoner of War, from YouTube:

Starring martial arts icon Scott Adkins as British SAS officer James Wright, the action thriller Prisoner of War tells the story of a soldier captured by the Japanese during World War II, and held in a Philippines POW camp. Before the entire colony embarks upon the Bataan Death March, Wright & his fellow prisoners are forced to compete in brutal death matches for the entertainment of their captors. Scott Adkins puts in a career best performance as the man who may be able to save them all… Prisoner of War is directed by Australian actor / filmmaker Louis Mandylor, director of the films Jimmy Bones, In the Eyes of a Killer, The Blackout, Blindsided, Christmas Down Under, 3 Days in Malay, and Operation Blood Hunt previously. The screenplay is written by Marc Clebanoff, from a story by Scott Adkins. Produced by Marc Clebanoff, Michael Copon, Louis Mandylor, Brandon Menchen. Well Go USA will debut Mandylor’s Prisoner of War movie in select US theaters + on VOD starting September 19th, 2025 this fall. Anyone want to watch it?

Bizarre Spiritual Leader Doc ‘The Man Who Saves The World?’ Trailer
by Alex Billington
July 25, 2025
Source: YouTube

“This all seemed unreal to me…” Area 23a has revealed an official trailer for a documentary film titled The Man Who Saves The World?, directed by filmmaker Gabe Polsky (of Red Army, In Search of Greatness, Red Penguins). What if a prophecy could decide the fate of the planet—and it rested in the hands of a man no one saw coming? At once surreal and urgent, The Man Who Saves the World? follows eccentric peace activist Patrick McCollum as he is drawn into an ancient Indigenous prophecy that may determine the future of the Amazon — and the fate of life on Earth. What begins as a curiosity transforms into something far stranger & with higher stakes, as Polsky finds himself swept into a world where belief shapes reality, and nothing is what it seems. Jane Goodall is also a fan of him: “I can honestly say Patrick is one of the most extraordinary and inspirational people I have had the good fortune to know and count as a true friend.” The film is also supported by comedians including Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, and Jody Hill of Rough House Pictures and filmmaker Peter Farrelly. “This mind-bending documentary pushes the boundaries of genre & sanity delivering a one-of-a-kind cinematic trip.” Ya, I’m in. Unite humanity, restore Mother Earth.
Here’s the official trailer for Gabe Polsky’s doc The Man Who Saves The World?, from YouTube:
“Only a film this bizarre, inspiring, and human could feel right at home with Rough House Pictures. This is the kind of film that makes you laugh, think, and question everything—including why you’re suddenly rooting for a jungle prophet with a machete and a dream.” –Exec producers Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, Jody Hill

Resurrection, indigenous prophecies, and adventures around the globe — this is the fascinating story of Patrick McCollum. A spiritual leader & peace advocate, he finds himself at the very center of an ancient prophecy that could decide the fate of our planet. Pulled into McCollum’s world, acclaimed director Gabe Polsky will bring us across continents on a spiritual journey in which the absurd and profound merge. Featuring legendary anthropologist Jane Goodall as well as many Indigenous leaders, The Man Who Saves the World? is not just a film—it’s an experience designed to shake your soul and stir your senses. The Man Who Saves The World? is directed by American filmmaker Gabe Polsky, director of the film The Motel Life, and also the docs Red Army, In Search of Greatness, and Red Penguins previously. Executive produced by Peter Farrelly, Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, Jody Hill, Brandon James. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know.
