Ethan Hawke & Margaret Qualley in Linklater’s ‘Blue Moon’ Film Trailer

“Everybody’s in love with her…” Sony Pictures Classics has revealed the main trailer for Richard Linklater’s new film Blue Moon, one of two brand new Linklater movies from this year. Blue Moon first premiered at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival (aka Berlinale) earlier in the year, while his French take on Jean-Luc Godard titled Nouvelle Vague premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival a few months ago. Blue Moon is out first – in theaters starting in October this fall. On the evening of March 31st, 1943, legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart confronts his shattered self-confidence in the famous Sardi’s bar as his former collaborator Richard Rodgers celebrates the opening night of his ground-breaking hit musical “Oklahoma!” on Broadway. This very talky film takes place entirely in this bar over the course of one drunken evening. The film stars Ethan Hawke as Lorenz, Andrew Scott as Richard Rodgers, Margaret Qualley as Elizabeth Weiland, Bobby Cannavale as bartender Eddie, and Giles Surridge as Troy. This earned plenty of great reviews from Berlinale, but it won’t be everyone’s cup ‘o tea. A somewhat depressing story of a man realizing he is at the end of his prime.

Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon tells the story of the legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart bravely facing the future as his professional and private life unravel during the opening night party for his former partner Richard Rodgers’ hit stage show, “Oklahoma!”. In 100 minutes, the film unspools in real-time the events in Sardi’s bar on the evening of March 31st, 1943. It is a meditation on friendship, art & love, featuring a rich tapestry of writers, actors, musicians, friends and protégés – a parade of the famous and the soon-to-be-famous. By the time this night is over, Hart will have confronted both a world irrevocably changed by the war, and the seeming impossibility of love. Blue Moon is directed by the acclaimed American filmmaker Richard Linklater, director of many great films including Slacker, Dazed and Confused, Before Sunrise & Sunset & Midnight, SubUrbia, The Newton Boys, Waking Life, Tape, School of Rock, Bad News Bears, Fast Food Nation, A Scanner Darkly, Me and Orson Welles, Bernie, Boyhood, Everybody Wants Some!!, Last Flag Flying, Where’d You Go Bernadette, Apollo 10½, and Hit Man previously, along with Nouvelle Vague also this year (which premiered at Cannes). The screenplay is written by Robert Kaplow. Produced by Mike Blizzard, John Sloss, and Linklater. This first premiered at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival earlier this year. Sony Classics will debut Linklater’s Blue Moon film in select US theaters on October 17th, 2025 this fall.

Official Trailer for ‘The Lost Bus’ with McConaughey & America Ferrera

“It’s not too late…” Apple TV has unveiled the main official trailer for the forest fire thriller The Lost Bus, the latest feature from acclaimed director Paul Greengrass since he made News of the World in 2020. It will premiere first at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival coming up in September before opening limited theaters in September – a quick theatrical release before streaming on Apple TV+. Inspired by real events, The Lost Bus is a white-knuckle ride into one of the scariest wildfires as a wayward school bus driver (played by Matthew McConaughey) and school teacher (America Ferrera) battle to save 22 children from the inferno. The film explores more of what went wrong in California’s Camp Fire in 2018, America’s deadliest wildfire in a century (85 were killed), and how to prevent future tragedies, also including the story of a bus driver & school teacher who helped kids through the blaze. In addition to McConaughey & Ferrera, the cast includes Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson, and Spencer Watson. Yet another haunting forest fire movie following Kosinski’s Only the Brave (in 2017) and the doc Rebuilding Paradise about this very same fire. Oh this looks terrifying! What a harrowing experience driving through that kind of literal Hell on Earth.

Abaddon Hotel Horror Prequel ‘Hell House LLC: Lineage’ Main Trailer

“Whatever was in that hotel, it’s out now. It’s among us.” “What does this have to do with me?” Yes, a good question. Terror Films has revealed an official trailer for a horror prequel titled Hell House LLC: Lineage, which is the fifth film in the Hell House LLC horror franchise. This series was created and written and directed by Stephen Cognetti in 2015 with Hell House LLC; he continues to write and direct every one of these sequels/prequels. This film is about the continuity of the storyline of Vanessa Shepard, portrayed by actress Elizabeth Vermilyea, who is haunted by visions and recurring nightmares while in the town of Abaddon. As mysterious deaths occur around her, she uncovers connections to the Abaddon Hotel and the Carmichael Manor (from the other movies), delving into decades of unexplained murders & disappearances. Once again starring Elizabeth Vermilyea, along with Searra Sawka, Mike Sutton, and Joe Bandelli as the iconic Hell House LLC Clown. This looks like it’s really made for all the fans of the series already. Enjoy.

Miles Teller, Callum Turner, Elizabeth Olsen in Sweet ‘Eternity’ Trailer

“A lot has happened in a week! You died! I died! I’ve just been reunited with both of my dead husbands. And I have to pick where to spend eternity?!” Yep, that sounds like quite the conundrum. A24 has unveiled the first official trailer for an afterlife romantic comedy called Eternity, made by filmmaker David Freyne. This will premiere at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival this fall before it hits theaters later in the year. In an afterlife where souls have one week to decide where to spend their eternity, Joan is faced with an impossible choice – deciding between the man she spent her life with (Larry), and her first love, a man who died young in a war and has waited decades for her to arrive there. Adorable. Starring Miles Teller, Callum Turner, and Elizabeth Olsen as the lovers trio. Along with John Early, Betty Buckley, and the delightful Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph. I was expecting this film to be a more all-out fun comedy, but it is much more sweet and sentimental. And there’s some really nifty vintage afterlife visuals to enjoy. It’s lookin’ good.

Teaser Trailer for ‘The Whistle’ Horror About a Creepy Death Whistle

“If you hear the whistle’s scream, dying is not a choice…” Holy crap this looks scary! I do not want to hear this whistle… IFC Films has unveiled an early teaser trailer for a scary new horror film titled The Whistle, which is finally ready to hit theaters. It’s currently scheduled to open sometime in early 2026 – the final date isn’t announced yet. A misfit group of unwitting high school students stumble upon a cursed object – an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. So it’s kind of like The Ring? And also a bit of Final Destination? But this death whistle is creepy as hell! Scary design, and I bet the sound is even scarier. Glad they don’t reveal that in the teaser! The Whistle stars Dafne Keen, Sophie Nélisse, Sky Yang, Jhaleil Swaby, Ali Skovbye, Percy Hynes White, Michelle Fairley, & Nick Frost. This is a very slick teaser – just enough horror footage to get your attention and give you the chills without giving away too much else.

Here’s the first teaser trailer for Corin Hardy’s horror film The Whistle, direct from YouTube:
