Thunderbolts* Director Reveals That Post-Credits Scene Was Directed By The Russo Brothers (But I’m Just Shocked How Fast It Happened)

Major spoilers for Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, so be warned as you read about one of the biggest scenes from the film.

Thunderbolts* has finally arrived amid the 2025 movie schedule, and it’s causing quite a stir. Fans and critics alike have been high on the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film, with many praising Florence Pugh’s standout performance. If you saw the film, you surely know there was some excellent “shawarma” to partake in via that post-credits scene (which muddies up one MCU relationship). It turns out the Russo Brothers directed the scene, but it’s the speed with which it came together that really has me impressed.

Anthony Russo were actually behind the camera to direct it. The comments that Schreier shared with Variety also seemingly confirm that this won’t be the last time audiences see this scene in an MCU film:

That was shot maybe four weeks ago, and I did not direct that. That’s the Russos on the set of ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ I got to be there, which was very fun, to watch your buddies go on to this grander scale.

I honestly assumed the Russos filmed that post-credits stinger. The Disney-owned studio has a long history of using dailies from upcoming Marvel movies as credits scenes in other films. Yet the situation was a bit different this time around, as the forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday hadn’t officially commenced filming at the time. So the crew had to work fast, and I’m in utter disbelief that the scene was only filmed around a month ago. That’s a break-neck turnaround, to say the least. Jake Schrier also shared more details:

I got to see drafts, for sure. We all worked on the scene just to make sure that it was honest to where our characters were. But also, you’re giving them over to this whole new world and new scope, and you want them to function in that way. It was fun to see them directed in another context and on a different level of scope than we had been treating it.

Principal photography for Doomsday kicked off last week, with the Russo Brothers sharing a photo of Robert Downey Jr.’s set chair. The prospect of another film that unites Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is certainly exciting, and it’s likely that fans are also curious to see what Downey brings to the role of Doctor Doom. Of course, we’re now aware that there are freshly christened New Avengers in the mix, and their presence is sure to shake things up a bit for Sam Wilson (Captain America) and his fellow OGs.

I’m still reveling in the release of Thunderbolts*, which is indeed a fun ride and an excellent addition to the MCU. Jake Schrier and his team deserve a lot of credit for pulling off such a massive film, and kudos to the Russo Brothers for stepping in to handle that post-credits scene so close to release. If you haven’t seen the film already or just want to see it again, know that it’s playing in theaters nationwide now. Also, check out other MCU movies by streaming them with a Disney+ subscription.

‘I’m Pete Davidson!’ Colin Jost Showed Up In A Non-Weekend Update SNL Sketch, And I Bet You Can Guess What It Was About

Colin Jost has been credited as a writer on more than 300 SNL episodes and as an actor on more than 200, but despite that incredibly long tenure, he hasn’t actually appeared in many traditional sketches. Typically, he shows up for Weekend Update, and that’s the extent of his work in front of the camera. Not this week. The former head writer made a surprise cameo in a real sketch, and I bet you can guess what it was about: a ferry boat.

Jost famously purchased a decommissioned Staten Island ferry boat alongside former cast member Pete Davidson. Both men have close connections to the borough, and after Jost married A-lister Scarlett Johansson, one of their wedding announcements featured a ferry boat that said “Jost Married” on the side. They named their purchase Titanic 2.

still a work in progress and a frequent source of snarky news articles. It’s also referenced on a semi-regular basis on SNL, sometimes by Jost himself and sometimes by other cast members. Even Johansson has roasted it during other media appearances.

This reference may go down as the most prominent ever, however, as it happened so unexpectedly. Host Quinta Brunson and cast members Mikey Day and Chloe Fineman were leads in a sketch playing drivers involved in a confrontation. They parked next to each other on a ferry boat and were not pleased, but because their windows were rolled up, they had to basically play charades to insult each other.

It’s pretty funny but also, in retrospect, obviously provides the perfect setting for Jost to dunk on himself. You can watch the full sketch below in which Jost shows up and tries to convince them to buy his ferry boat, even claiming he’s Pete Davidson at one point…

‘I’m Pete Davidson!’ Colin Jost Showed Up In A Non-Weekend Update SNL Sketch, And I Bet You Can Guess What It Was About

Watch On

Before we get into the Jost part, let’s talk about the larger sketch real quick. Most of the time it’s the political sketches or the celebrity impressions that go mega-viral, but to me, this is the heart of Saturday Night Live and really sketch comedy in general. You throw some funny people into a random life situation and just let them push it as far as possible. I had a smile on my face throughout this entire sketch, and it seems like everyone involved in it was having a great time, as they acted out really random and inappropriate things.

The bigger story here, though, is, of course, the ferry boat part of it. It’s been getting some traction on social media, and it’s easy to see why. Jost is a great comedy writer and a skilled Weekend Update host. He’s also proven time and time again that he’s willing to laugh at himself and be the butt of jokes in order to get laughs. That’s a hallmark of so many great SNL comedians who have been willing to mine their personal lives and/ or put themselves in embarrassing situations in order to amuse the audience.

With Jost, those personal life references have overwhelmingly been about the ferry boat or his marriage to Scarlett Johansson. Every single time, he’s executed them with a good-natured smile on his face, and given she’s hosting the season finale (which some fans are convinced could be Jost’s last episode), there’s a good chance he’ll go there a few more times this year too. I can’t wait.

‘It Was Magical’: Ana De Armas Reflects On Bond Role While Advocating For More Latin Actors In Action

As an actor, affection for a character and/or projects is key, but the impact you and your character leave behind is just as important. There are many instances where certain demographics are underused in popular movie genres. Actress Ana de Armas reflected on her place in the James Bond film No Time to Die, as well as using her experience to advocate for more Latin actors in action films.

In a YouTube interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ana de Armas looks back on her time as Paloma in No Time to Die, as well as touch briefly on filming with co-star Daniel Craig in both that project and Knives Out. When describing her time on the set of No Time to Die, the star had this to say:

Being in a Bond movie was a dream come true for so many reasons. I think I didn’t even know the meaning of it until I was actually in it. It was magical, I had a wonderful experience, it was so much fun. Paloma is one of my favorite characters from everything I’ve ever done. She turned out to be really special.

she was asked about taking over from Gal Gadot to play Wonder Woman after Patty Jenkins’ third movie was scrapped. And while she didn’t take the role of Diana Prince, de Armas fought like a total badass in the 2025 film Ballerina. She was breaking plates over people’s faces and did some insane stunt work for that movie. On the topic of Latin actors in action movies, de Armas put it simply.

I do advocate for Latinas to be in action films. Trust me, you don’t want to mess with that.

She does go on to say that she wants Latina actresses to star in their own movies, rather than be a co-star or side-character in someone else’s film. This line of thinking is similar to her original trepidation of going through with her role in Knives Out, which she did go on to star in.

Outside of her place in action movies, she did star in Blonde as the candle in the wind Marilyn Monroe herself. Though this casting did face a bit of backlash. However, the author for Blonde had praises for de Armas taking up the role of depicting Monroe.

De Armas’ range is quite vast, and she clearly cares about her impact not just in the film, but as a Latina actress. Not to mention she is quite the inspiration for fellow Latina actresses, speaking out that their place is not just on the sidelines of an action movie, but can be right in the spotlight.

I Recently Realized Heat’s Best Scene Isn’t The One Everyone Talks About

I Recently Realized Heat’s Best Scene Isn’t The One Everyone Talks About

Often considered one of the best heist films ever made, Michael Mann’s Heat is an absolute crime epic with everything you want in a movie: intense action sequences, a cast of Hollywood heavyweights, and so much style. Clocking in at nearly three hours in length, this all-time great ‘90s movie has become one of the most influential films since its release 30 years ago. And a lot of that love comes because of one scene in particular: the downtown Los Angeles shootout.

However, I recently realized that the best scene from Heat doesn’t involve high-caliber shootouts after an epic bank robbery, or any action at all. Instead, the best scene, the most consequential in the movie in my eyes, is a much more mellow yet poignant conversation. Let me explain…

Robert De Niro and Val Kilmer facing off against police in Heat

For The Longest Time, Heat’s Shootout Scene Was My Favorite Part Of The Movie

the big shootout scene in Heat is one of the greatest action sequences ever caught on film. The intensity, drama, and deafening sound of gunfire in the middle of downtown Los Angeles create an unforgettable moment, and I totally see why it’s everyone’s favorite scene (and mine as well, for a very long time). Hell, for a lot of us, we saw this sequence multiple times before we ever sat through Michael Mann’s full epic.

There are shootouts before Heat, and there are those after. Everything from movies like The Town and The Dark Knight to cinematic video games like Grand Theft Auto and Max Payne has taken inspiration from this epic scene. When the movie is brought up, this is the sequence people are going to talk about nine times out of 10.

Robert De Niro) finds Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer) sleeping on the floor of his oceanfront condo after going through some “husband and wife shit” with Charlene Shiherlis (Ashley Judd). Unlike the doomed heist that starts the film, or the major shootout that follows about an hour later, this relatively short scene has no shooting, no robbing, and no action. Instead, it’s all emotion, especially from the late actor.

Despondent, tired, confused, and caught between being a bank robber and a family man, Chris is going through it in this moment. After Neil tries to give him a speech about having no attachments and nothing he can’t drop in 30 seconds, his partner-in-crime responds with the movie’s best line: “For me, the sun rises and sets with her, man.”

Rewatching this scene, and fully taking in Kilmer’s understated performance, really resonated with me recently, and it completely changed the way I see his character, and the movie as a whole.

this little scene is a masterclass in acting, but when you look at it as part of the bigger picture the film is painting, it’s the stuff of wonder. See, Chris’ “The sun rises and sets with her” line perfectly sets up the rest of the film and is the initial spark that leads to Neil McCauley undergoing a massive change by the time the credits roll.

For years, I went back to Michael Cheritto’s (Tom Sizemore) “The action is the juice” quote as the defining line from the film. That rationale about the thrill and adrenaline rush of the heist being better than the reward is still great, but Chris’ more heartfelt explanation of his motivations is the real kicker. Shortly after this early-morning conversation, there’s a change in Neil, and he becomes less of a lone wolf as he starts a relationship with Eady (Amy Brenneman). Sure, this ultimately leads to Neil going against his code and getting killed, but the point still stands.

Honestly, this is the best part about rewatching one of your all-time favorite films for, like, the umpteenth time, as you start to notice little things that make it even better. And that was the case with Heat.

I Went On Volcano Bay’s Not So Lazy River For The First Time At Universal, And As A Lazy River Superfan, I’m Shook

Other people might be judging water parks based on the thrill rides or the wave pool or the food or the amenities. I’m judging them almost exclusively based on the lazy river because that’s where I’m spending the majority of my time. The game plan is always the same. I’m walking in the front, paying for a locker, throwing my shirt, wallet, keys and phone in there, slathering on sunscreen and then immediately heading for the lazy river.

Once there, I’m finding an intertube, or if I’m lucky, one of those half chair, half intertube things, and circumnavigating loop after loop until I die of heat stroke or feel like getting a hot dog. That’s it. That’s my only agenda, and for almost forty years, it has worked out perfectly. After my first trip this week to Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay, however, I’m starting to question things.

better than expected food and wander over to The Fearless River. I’d spend a little time there and then head back again. It was a fun little day of contrasts, and now, it has me wishing every single water park on Earth had a fast and a slow lazy river.

Have you ever done something for the first time and wondered why it took you so long? That’s how I feel right now. I’m the biggest lazy river fan I know, and it turns out up until earlier this week, I knew nothing. I’m shook but also extremely excited to go back. Maybe next time I’ll even ride it at night.

Volcano Bay recently announced it’ll be getting rid of its wristband system and switching to a more traditional ride queue. Thankfully, that shouldn’t effect either of the lazy rivers. They will, however, be unavailable during a larger planned park closure between October of 2026 and March of 2027. I guess we’ll all just have to suck it up and spend more time at Universal’s brand new Epic Universe during that window, which is set to open later this month. We recently went to a preview, and spoiler alert, it’s awesome. Maybe not two lazy rivers awesome but close.

32 Times When Zack Morris And The Gang Did The Right Thing

There is a web series from Funny or Die called Zack Morris is Trash, which is dedicated to exposing Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s Saved by the Bell fourth-wall-breaking character for the selfish, conniving, and time-freezing menace that he is. However, he is not all bad.

In fact, he and the rest of his close-knit group of friends at Bayside High School – namely Kelly Kapowski (Tiffany Thiessen), A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez), Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley), Samuel “Screech” Powers (the late Dustin Diamond), and Lisa Turtle (Lark Voorhies) – have been known to defy expectations with the occasional mature decision on the beloved TV sitcom. See for yourself by revisiting some of the Saved by the Bell cast’s proudest moments.

However, he decides to team up with Jessie after learning she was going to refrain from entering the contest since she is taller than most other men who want to partner with her and is afraid of getting made fun of. Kelly ends up partnering with Slater, but it is Screech and Lisa’s original dance they call “The Sprain,” that wins.

In it, Zack and Kelly decide to marry in Sin City and come close to tying the knot in a cheap wedding venue before Zack’s parents suddenly appear and promise to help pay for a proper ceremony.
