Ryan Gosling Says One La La Land Moment ‘Haunts’ Him, And He Wishes He Could Redo It: ‘I See It All The Time’

Ryan Gosling Says One La La Land Moment ‘Haunts’ Him, And He Wishes He Could Redo It: ‘I See It All The Time’

La La Land made waves when it came out in 2016, and not just because of the La La Land and Moonlight Oscars snafu. The movie was a legitimately popular vehicle for Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, not to mention director Damien Chazelle, and we’re still taking about its memorable ending years later. It’s not the ending that keeps Ryan Gosling up at night, though. There’s another moment from filming that haunts him.

The La La Land Scene That Still ‘Haunts’ Ryan Gosling Totally Makes Sense To Me

Listen, La La Land features a series of colorful and memorable dance sequences, one of which involves Emma Stone’s character Mia and Ryan Gosling’s Sebastian dancing on an overlook in Los Angeles’ popular Griffith Park. The scene is lit by a dusky skyline and a streetlamp, and it’s expertly choreographed. It’s a great movie moment in one of the best Gosling movies. Only the actor says it ain’t so, and it ‘haunts’ him to this day.

There’s a moment that haunts me, where we’re dancing, Emma and I, and we – I didn’t know this would become the poster – but I thought we were supposed to have our hands up. And I thought it’d be cool to put my hand like that [flips his hand to a 90 degree angle]. Even though everyone told me it wasn’t cool. I was sure that that [straight hand] was cooler than that [90 degree angle hamburger hand].

four takes to complete the Griffith Park dance sequence, he didn’t have a lot of time to correct, either.

Wall Street Journal:

Now when I look at it, and I have to see it all the time, you know what would have been cooler then this [poster], that [perfect straight hand]. It just killed the energy that way.

The interviewer later confirms his “90 degree” concern is called a hamburger hand to professional dancers given it mimics a top bun, and it seems like no one had told the actor this previously. In fact, he’s given it it’s own nickname that’s cracking me up:

It was all leading to, what? Just like a lazy… I call it La La Hand.

When filming a movie, actors often do multiple takes and are kind of at the mercy of directors, editors and other members of the creative team when it comes to the final project. That’s one reason why some actors like Adam Driver don’t love watching their own stuff. It’s the mistakes they often see rather than the pockets of greatness. But in Gosling’s case, here, it’s particularly egregious because all he needs to see is the poster to be reminded of how silly he made himself look.

As far as BTS La La Land facts go, though, the whole thing is kind of charming.

Chuck Lorre’s Newest Netflix Show Is A Hit, And He Gave Us His Thoughts On Weekly Episodes Vs. All-At-Once Binges

Asking people if they prefer to binge a show or watch it week to week can cause quite heated debates; in fact, I’ve been in them many times. For years now, there’s been a big, passionate discussion about which release strategy is better, and it feels like it only gets more heated as the 2025 TV schedule features a mix of the two release methods. So now, Chuck Lorre, an acclaimed producer and writer who has a hit on Netflix right now and has created shows that were dropped both ways, has weighed in.

As Cuck Lorre’s latest sitcom, Leanne debuts at No. 2 on Netflix’s Top Ten TV Shows in the U.S., he spoke to us about his 2025 Netflix release as well as how TV shows are released these days. When asked by CinemaBlend’s Nick Venable about the weekly episodes vs. binge-all-at-once strategies, he started out by saying each have their own merits:

You know, I think they both have merit. I don’t know that one is arguably better than the other.

The Bear have been dropped the binge way for those with a Hulu subscription. Also, some of Netflix’s most binge-worthy shows, like Wednesday and Stranger Things, have found major success this way (even though both will premiere new seasons with Netflix’s largely disliked parts model, where the season is dropped in two or three chunks).

However, the week-to-week schedule also has major benefits, and shows like HBO’s The White Lotus and Apple TV+’s Severance have thrived on it. This model is great because it has the ability to easily keep audiences talking for weeks on end. That’s a point Lorre made to us, too, when discussing the advantages of it, saying:

There’s something to when a show comes out once a week, it maybe has a better chance of developing a relationship with the audience. And the audience can speak with one another and share their feelings about, ‘Did you see the show last night?’ As opposed to if you watched them all at once, the conversation that follows is the only conversation you’ll have, and then it’s over.

With a week-to-week model, there’s already a built-in weeks-long timeframe for folks to talk in great detail about what happens on a given show. That’s incredibly valuable, and something binge shows can’t naturally have. However, as we’ve seen, if projects dropped all at once can hold on to the public’s attention and create mass discourse, they can stick in the zeitgeist for a very, very long time.

Lorre likely personally knows the benefits and pitfalls of both models. Since 2007, he’s had either The Big Bang Theory or one of its two spinoffs airing week-to-week on CBS, and we can’t forget the hit sitcom Two and a Half Men either. Meanwhile, he’s also worked on hits you can stream with a Netflix subscription, like The Kominsky Method.

His new series, Leanne, which stars Leanne Morgan and follows her titular character in the aftermath of her husband leaving her, is also proving to work well. It’s only been out for a few days, and it’s trending on Netflix, so clearly, people are tuning in to stream it.

However, there’s something about the week-to-week way that hits different. Lorre continued to make a point about how much deeper conversations about shows can be when you’re only given one episode at a time:

But if it’s over 16 weeks or 22 weeks of one [episode] a week, that conversation amongst the audience, I think, can get deeper and more interesting. ‘Did you see Cheers last night?’ is how I grew up. Or Get Smart, if I can be honest.

I’ve experienced this water cooler talk Lorre is referring to first-hand. Using examples from only 2025, every week, for months, my friends and I would check in and discuss shows like Severance, Eslbeth and Abbott Elementary in detail before theorizing about what would happen next. Meanwhile, when Season 4 of The Bear dropped, we enjoyed the episodes in one sitting, talked about it for about a week, and then moved on to the next thing.

To me, week-to-week is the way to go; however, you can’t deny that a good binge is nice here and there. And right now, you can do just that with Cuck Lorre’s sitcom, Leanne, which recently dropped all 16 of its episodes on Netflix.

MGK Was Apparently Supposed To Audition For Sinners, But He Turned It Down For One Reason

MGK Was Apparently Supposed To Audition For Sinners, But He Turned It Down For One Reason

Few films have managed to make an impression on the movie-loving public than Sinners. Ryan Coogler’s 2025 movie release not only did solid business at the box office, but it also dominated conversations across social media. An aspect of the film that’s been praised is the ensemble cast, which is led by Michael B. Jordan. Interestingly, it now seems that rapper MGK (formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly) was granted the opportunity to audition for the film, though he apparently passed it up for one key reason.

MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, has played roles in films like Bird Box, Project Power and Midnight in the Switchgrass. He also starred in, wrote, directed and produced his own film, 2022’s Good Mourning. The recording artist recently appeared on an episode of The Pat McAfee Show, during which he discussed his new music and whether he wants to keep acting. Baker eventually claimed he’s turned down a number of films and, in terms of Ryan Coogler’s film, Baker didn’t audition due to having to say a racial slur:

YouTube), have not been verified by Ryan Coogler or any other producers on the film. Nevertheless, it’s intriguing to hear him say that he was in contention for a role. Based on the “Cliché” performer’s description of the character, it sounds like he was in the running for Bert, who was ultimately played by Peter Dreimanis of the rock band July Talk.

played by Jack O’Connell in Sinners. A role in the vampire epic may have been a serious notch in Colson Baker’s acting belt. However, it seems the star was adamant about sticking with his principles on this particular matter.

It honestly would’ve been incredibly on brand for MGK to play a vampire, considering the sometimes eerie aesthetic he’s committed to over the years. He and former fiancé Megan Fox even confirmed that they would drink a few drops of each other’s blood. Fox attributed that practice to ritualistic purposes, and that’s, of course, in stark contrast to Remmick’s reason, which is to create an army of like-minded followers.

Ryan Coogler’s critically acclaimed Sinners is great for several reasons, but one of them is the nuanced way in which it utilizes vampires. These southern blood-suckers aren’t just around to cause mischief and terror but to serve as a metaphor for unbreakable cycles and lasting legacies. It’s interesting to think about how MGK would’ve approached playing one of those nocturnal creatures but, at this point, he seems at peace with not having taken part.

Whether you’ve yet to check out Sinners for yourself or just want to rewatch it for the umpteenth time, grab an HBO Max subscription to stream it.

Liam Neeson’s Naked Gun Did Something I Think Was Really Smart, And It’s Why The Reboot Is Great

Liam Neeson’s Naked Gun Did Something I Think Was Really Smart, And It’s Why The Reboot Is Great

I was very skeptical of the new Naked Gun, starring Liam Neeson, when it was announced as part of the 2025 movie schedule. I grew up a child of the ‘80s, and the original Naked Gun series, especially the first one, was right in my wheelhouse. I’m tired of Gen X nostalgia, so I didn’t think I’d bother even watching this new re-imagining of the classic franchise.

Luckily, I have now seen it and all my worries were set aside. The Naked Gun is really funny, and smartly, the filmmakers didn’t try to compete with the original in the sheer number of jokes being thrown at the audience. It’s the smartest thing they could have done.

The Original Naked Gun Is Jokes On Top Of Jokes On Top Of Jokes

layering jokes on top of jokes. Every scene in their original movie is crammed with multiple jokes, often at the same time, and they all work together brilliantly. It’s something that is incredibly difficult to get right, and they nailed it far more often than they didn’t. It wasn’t enough to have a funny line of dialogue; there also had to be a sight gag going on, and another sight gag happening in the background.

I’ve never counted the jokes in the original, but there have to be well over 150 in just under 90 minutes. The new film on the other hand, doesn’t try to go toe-to-toe on sheer volume, and it works really well.

Liam Neeson is the perfect choice as Frank Drebin, Jr. There are tons of jokes and gags (plus some wonderful homages to the original), and they all match the tone of the predecessor perfectly. What there isn’t, is nearly as many layers of jokes. There are a few, but the filmmakers behind the new one really pick and chose when to ratchet up the joke density. This was the best decision they could have made when mapping out the movie.

Trying to match Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker is a mistake that quite a few movies have attempted – and generally failed at – since the trio first started making hits in the late ‘70s. It’s like someone trying to be Mel Brooks. There is a special talent that they had that means trying to mimic it will only lead to failure. Instead, the new one has all the vibes that The Naked Gun had in 1988, but doesn’t collapse under the weight of the sheer volume of gags.

The new Naked Gun works really well, and it’s really funny, and it’s the restraint the filmmakers used that makes it both.

Insider Drops Claims About Why Katy Perry’s Friends Are Concerned Amid Her ‘Flirty Friendship’ With Justin Trudeau

It’s been a little over a month since news broke that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom broke up after years of being engaged. Now, the singer is making headlines as romance rumors swirl around her and Justin Trudeau, the former prime minister of Canada. So, as speculation surrounding this alleged “flirty friendship” swirls, an insider has made claims about why the singer’s friends are concerned about this budding relationship.

Over the last week, Perry was seen out to dinner with Trudeau in Montreal. She was in town for her Lifetimes Tour, and a couple of days after their meal, the former Canadian prime minister was seen at her concert. This has caused lots of romance rumors, and according to The Sun, the “Firework” singer’s friends apparently aren’t thrilled about this situation, as they alleged:

Katy’s friends want her to have fun after her split from Orlando, but she’s still very much grieving the end of their relationship and the fact that she never made it down the aisle.

Orlando Bloom and Katy Pretty splitting up broke earlier this summer, in late June. This came after they got engaged in 2019, and they share a young daughter together. Meanwhile, Trudeau and his now ex-wife Sophie broke up in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They share three kids between the ages of 11 and 16.

he might be dating Jessica Alba. However, since then, Alba has been seen kissing actor Danny Ramirez, per People, putting the rumors about her and the Pirates of the Caribbean performer to rest.

Before that, Bloom attended Jeff Bezos’ wedding, where he was seen conversing with Sydney Sweeney, Naomi Campbell and Sofía Vergara. At that time, a source told the Daily Mail that Perry was allegedly “disappointed and sad” about it, but also, that is only a rumor.

Overall, in the months since Katey Perry and Orlando Bloom broke up, they’ve both been caught in headlines regarding their dating life. At the moment, nothing is confirmed or denied. However, apparently, if the singer is indeed in a relationship with Justin Trudeau, her friends aren’t thrilled about it.
