‘He’s Daring Us To Fire Him.’ How Stephen Colbert Is Allegedly Rubbing Execs The Wrong Way Following The Late Show’s Cancellation

The announcement of The Late Show’s cancellation at CBS sparked discussions in various circles. Not only have entertainment industry analysts been sharing their takes, but celebrities like Bowen Yang, Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers have expressed their disapproval of the move as well. For his part, Colbert hasn’t shied away from addressing the situation. During a show last week, Colbert didn’t hold back while discussing the cancellation and criticizing his employers, who reportedly have strong feelings about his sentiments.

On the Monday, July 21 broadcast of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert discussed the fact that CBS is “killing off [their] show.” He then mused, however, that the network “made one mistake,” which he says was the fact that they “left [him] alive.” Colbert eventually went on to poke fun at the claims that his talk show was canceled for “financial” reasons as officially noted. Insider and substack owner Rob Shuter has since heard from alleged network execs, who reportedly held an emergency meeting on Tuesday, and one said this about Colbert:

He’s daring us to fire him. And honestly? We’re close to doing it.

Donald Trump, which involved 60 Minutes, and that suit was viewed as the final issue that needed to be resolved before the FCC would OK the merger. Amid the legal proceedings, Stephen Colbert vocally chastised his bosses for settling the suit.

celebrated The Late Show’s cancellation – even more during his Monday show. He dropped an F-bomb at the president’s expense and referred to himself as a “martyr.” Another purported exec who spoke to Rob Shuter claimed that Colbert’s “scorched-earth monologue” (which seemingly broke with broadcast standards for content) is not going over well with the network’s leadership team:

He’s been warned. What he said was unacceptable. There are real consequences this time.

Stephen Colbert began hosting The Late Show in September 2015 following the retirement of longtime host David Letterman. Earlier this month, he formally addressed his show’s cancellation while on air. Audience members expressed surprise over the comments shared by Colbert, who’s emerged as one of the most popular late-night TV hosts. The show is currently slated to conclude in May 2026, though another source alleges that the timetable could be moved up due to a key concern about Colbert:

He’s off the leash and out for blood. And we’re scared. He knows the secrets. He knows where the bodies are buried. If we push him too hard, he could take us all down with him.

As of late, it’s been alleged that behind the scenes, The Late Show’s crew is not happy with the show being axed. Simultaneously, notable celebrities continue to weigh in on the cancellation, with one of the show’s former producers and even David Letterman himself weighing in with less-than-positive thoughts on the axing. When it comes to Stephen Colbert, the public can only wait and see how he continues to address the demise of his talk show.

How Ben Affleck Allegedly Feels About Jennifer Lopez Seemingly Using Their Breakup As Inspiration For Her Recent Songs

Rumors began to circulate in 2024 about Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck possibly divorcing, and the couple ultimately finalized their split in early 2025. Since then, insiders have been sharing insights into how each superstar is reportedly coping with the breakup. Recently, JLo released new music that seems to be inspired by the “wreckage” of their relationship. A source close to the Good Will Hunting veteran has now revealed how the actor reportedly feels about his ex supposedly using their breakup as inspiration for her songs.

The 56-year-old pop star has a long history of creating music that reflects her private life. However, according to a report from the Daily Mail, Affleck, 52, allegedly has no intention of retaliating or engaging in “childish” antics with her if the songs are inspired by their relationship. A source informed the outlet:

If this song or any others bash him, what can he do? It’s childish and not something he wants to entertain. It is something he can’t control, so he isn’t going to let it hurt him, and he’s definitely not going to give it life by reacting.

Daily Mail, in a break from tradition, she was planning to wipe all mention of him from her upcoming album.

2024 was certainly difficult for Bennifer 2.0. The couple was still in the process of finalizing their divorce and for the Hustlers star, it meant having to cancel her “This Is Me Live” tour last summer. At that time, she expressed that the decision to cancel her concerts left her feeling “heartsick and devastated.” However, she assured her fans that she would find a way to make it up to them. Lopez now seems to be making it up to them with her ongoing Up All Night: Live in 2025, during which she’s not only shared these candid songs but also put on some risqué performances.

As of now, neither of the Hollywood stars’ reps have said anything official about the music release, so keep an eye out for updates. Although there may be some behind-the-scenes drama, both Lopez and Affleck are extremely busy, with both looking towards their 2025 movie schedule releases.

Will Kelly Clarkson’s Talk Show Be Affected By Her Return To The Voice? A Source Reveals What Allegedly Happened Last Time She Did Both

Will Kelly Clarkson’s Talk Show Be Affected By Her Return To The Voice? A Source Reveals What Allegedly Happened Last Time She Did Both

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of The Voice, as Kelly Clarkson will return alongside Adam Levine and John Legend for a special 29th season that’s being dubbed The Voice: Battle of Champions. Airing not on the 2025 TV schedule but, in 2026, the competition is undergoing a huge revamp … but what does it all mean for The Kelly Clarkson Show? A source has spoken out about what allegedly happened the last time she was on both.

News of Kelly Clarkson’s big comeback as a coach on The Voice was quite a surprise, especially given the rumors about her talk show possibly ending. With The Voice changing how it films, Season 29 is already underway, simultaneously taping with Snoop Dogg’s Season 28 (coming to NBC this fall). The Kelly Clarkson Show is on hiatus now, allowing the singer to do both The Voice and her Las Vegas residency, but according to ET, live shows in the spring would interfere with her talk show’s production schedule.

Kelly Clarkson moved production in 2023, as she’d be splitting her time between the East Coast and the West Coast, where The Voice is filmed. Clarkson hasn’t returned as a coach since making the cross-country move, but even when both shows were in Los Angeles, there were allegedly issues juggling her schedule.

due to an unexplained “private matter.” Not much is known about what’s going on in Clarkson’s personal life but, professionally, sources have suggested she might want to shift her focus back to music after The Kelly Clarkson Show contract expires at the end of the 2025-26 season.

As someone who missed the “Since U Been Gone” singer desperately on The Voice, I had selfishly wondered if she did, in fact, decide not to renew her contract on The Kelly Clarkson Show, could that mean a possible return to the singing competition? I certainly didn’t expect her to attempt both again, especially after her comments about how much she was struggling on The Voice ahead of her exit and, more recently, how demanding her talk show schedule is.

That’s what seems to be happening, though, so we’ll have to see if The Voice does, in fact, have live episodes that conflict with her talk show and how Kelly Clarkson chooses to juggle those things.

In the meantime, there’s a whole new season of The Voice to be excited about. Niall Horan will reunite with BFF Reba McEntire for Season 28 alongside Snoop Dogg and reigning champion Michael Bublé. Tune in this fall on NBC, with episodes streaming the next day with a Peacock subscription.

Why David Corenswet’s Superman Has A Temper, According To The Director

Why David Corenswet’s Superman Has A Temper, According To The Director

The superhero genre continues to be wildly popular, and we’ve got a new shared universe in the DCU, which is being overseen by co-CEO James Gunn. The first movie in Gods and Monsters is Gunn’s take on Superman, which has been performing well at the box office. And the acclaimed filmmaker recently shared why having David Corenswet’s Clark Kent have a temper was important for the story he was trying to tell.

The DCU is still in its early stages, with only a handful of projects released with a Max subscription aside from Superman. Fans are still dissecting that blockbuster, with James Gunn and company able to finally speak freely about its contents. In an interview with Picturehouse, the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker shared why he included some moments with the Man of Steel losing his temper. In his words:

I didn’t want a Superman who was perfect in any way. Nobody’s perfect. Even Superman loses his temper, even Superman throws the desk across the room with Lex.

DC movies don’t show the other side of Clark Kent, but the moral conundrums and his shortcoming are center stage for Gunn’s blockbuster. That dynamic seems to be part of why Superman’s critical response was so overwhelmingly positive.

Superman’s trailer, and offers a new take on the Last Son of Krypton. Then there’s the scene James Gunn referenced, where Superman barges into Lex Luthor’s office and throws a table across a room when looking for Kyrpto.

Later in that same interview, the multitalented filmmaker spoke about what those sequences actually reveal about Clark Kent in the blockbuster. As she shared:

Even the things that he does that are imperfect are because of the goodness and pureness of his heart.

He’s not wrong. While Kal-El struggles with this power and the horrifying message that came from his biological parents, he continues to be a kind and loving figure throughout Superman’s runtime. It’s his strength of character that is arguably his biggest super power in the end of the film.

It should be fascinating to see where David Corenswet’s character goes in upcoming DC movies and TV shows. He should presumably be changed by the adventure we saw on the big screen, and I’m eager to see if/how he ends up joining the Justice Gang in the future.

Superman is in theaters now as part of the 2025 movie release list, and the DCU will once again expand when Peacemaker Season 2 hits theaters on August 21st.
