The His Dark Materials saga has been surrounded by controversy going back to when the first book of the original trilogy was published (then called Northern Lights) back in 1998. Throw in a movie adaptation called The Golden Compass that failed to created a film franchise, and the HBO adaptation starring Dafne Keen and James McAvoy had a lot working against it. Now, Philip Pullman is set to finish the second trilogy in the saga about Lyra, and it makes me want to revisit the TV show and perhaps start hoping for a sequel series.
